Kamareddy district recorded the second-highest Red Cross membership enrolment in Telangana, and its representatives were felicitated by the state Governor at a function held to mark the achievement. The Governor's Secretary and Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Special Chief Secretary Dana Kishore attended. Officials said district staff, departments, institutions and public representatives worked in coordination, and expressed hope the district would expand service activities and secure first place next year.
A real estate dealer, Mohammed Junaid (30), died after being stabbed in the Rein Bazar police station limits in Hyderabad's Old City. Locals alerted police about a man lying with stab wounds, and he was shifted to Yashoda Hospital in Santoshnagar, where he died during treatment. The body was sent to Osmania mortuary for postmortem. Two accused have been arrested, and both the accused and the victim are relatives, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mirchowk Shyam Sundar said. The motive is under investigation.
Kolanur residents Dasari Naresh and Gajula Srinivas have written postcards to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy seeking sanction of a new government high school building. They said the existing structure, built about four decades ago, has been unused for five years after turning dilapidated, leaving more than 90 students studying in tin sheds. They sought demolition of the old building and development of the 800-metre Kolanur–Chinna Bonala road as a tar road. The CM visits Sircilla on the 30th.
District authorities are putting security arrangements in place ahead of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's visit on the 30th of this month to inaugurate Karimnagar's new collectorate. On Monday, Collector Chitra Mishra, Police Commissioner Gaush Alam and CM security officials inspected the helipad, Telangana Talli statue, new building and conference hall surroundings. The review covered bandobast, the CM's convoy route, traffic control, parking, emergency medical services, fire safety and protocol. Municipal Commissioner Praful Desai, Additional Collector Srinivas Reddy, RDO Sharmila, SP Ramachander Rao and DSPs Raghuchander and Shyam attended.
The Principal District and Sessions Court in Medak has invited applications to fill 12 posts on a contract basis. The vacancies include Senior Superintendent 1, Senior Assistant 1, Stenographer Grade-III 1, Junior Assistant 2, Typist 2, Driver 1 and Office Subordinate 4. The contract period is two years and the age limit is 18-34 years. Educational qualifications have been fixed post-wise. The ‘Forum for Constitutional Democracy’ was launched in Hyderabad with the aim of uniting civil society to protect constitutional values, democratic systems and political values. Senior journalist K. Ramachandra Murthy was elected convenor. At a meeting at Basheerbagh Press Club chaired by Telangana Media Academy chairman K. Srinivas Reddy, members discussed the forum's objectives and future action plan. MLC Prof. M. A refrigerator exploded and triggered a fire at a house in Rajarajeswari Nagar, Sanathnagar, Hyderabad. The blast occurred on Thursday morning at the house of Satyanarayana, and flames spread at once, completely destroying all household belongings. HYDRAA fire services staff reached the spot on receiving information and doused the flames. Nobody was at home at the time, and a bigger mishap was averted. Local MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav consoled the affected family members.
Eruvaka celebrations were held in Jeenuguralla village of Devarakadra mandal on the occasion of Eruvaka Pournami. MLA G. Madhusudan Reddy attended as chief guest and inaugurated the festivities by riding a bullock cart himself. He distributed prizes to the winners of the 'eruka thadu' and reverse tractor competitions. The MLA said he hoped for ample rainfall so that farmers' fields would turn green. The celebrations were held on a grand scale in the village.
The Sircilla town Congress committee celebrated the birthday of Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Aadi Srinivas. Held under town Congress president Soora Devaraju, the event saw district Congress president Sangeetam Srinivas and other leaders cut a cake. Speakers said Srinivas entered politics as a student, stayed among the people despite losing four assembly contests, and brought hundreds of crores of rupees for the development of the Vemulawada Rajarajeswara Swamy temple.
Additional Collector Narsingarao directed officials not to keep complaints received at Prajavani pending. He received petitions on Monday at the Gadwal Collectorate along with Land Acquisition Deputy Collector Krishna and trainee Deputy Collectors Manoj Kumar Reddy and Raj Kumar. He ordered departmental officials to meet their staff every Wednesday to resolve Prajavani complaints, attend on time, and warned of action for negligence. Vacancy details of posts for the disabled and roster point registers must reach the welfare office by the 30th. Officials said 11 complaints were received at the SP office Prajavani, where SP Srinivasa Rao said public trust is vital for the police.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said on Sunday his government would complete pending projects in undivided Mahbubnagar district. With ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Damodar Raja Narasimha, he visited the Kurumurthy Swamy temple at Ammapuram in Chinnachintakunta mandal and laid the foundation stone for an elevated corridor and ghat road costing Rs 110 crore. He said the Narayanpet-Makthal-Kodangal project would be completed to supply Krishna waters, urged critics to target him politically rather than block development, and said Amara Raja Batteries would train and employ 2,000 local youth.
Atmakur CI Babulal said police caught three interstate ganja smugglers transporting the contraband illegally. Veluguri Tatarao, Kilo Gopal Rao and Kilo Sattibabu, all from Alluri Sitharama Raju district in Andhra Pradesh, bought over 500 kg of ganja from Guntawada in Odisha, sent 410 kg in another vehicle and were moving the remaining 91 kg by lorry to Hyderabad. They fled during vehicle checks at Gudeppad cross road but were chased and caught. Ganja worth about Rs 45.66 lakh was seized and the accused produced in court.
District Collector K. Haimavathi, along with Additional Collector (Revenue) Lakshmi Kiran, received petitions from people across the district at the Prajavani programme held on Monday in the Siddipet collectorate meeting hall. A total of 120 petitions on various issues were received. The collector examined each petition and directed officials of concerned departments to take resolution steps within a week and submit an action-taken report at next week's Prajavani. District Revenue Officer Nagarajamma and trainee deputy collector Bhavya also attended.
Telangana Panchayati Raj Chamber state president Satyanarayana Reddy called for strengthening gram panchayats. He spoke at an awareness meeting of sarpanches of the erstwhile Medak district held in Sangareddy town. He said newly formed panchayats should be provided their own buildings and their revenue limits fixed, and sought road facilities for tanda panchayats and Madhira villages. He also asked the state government to allocate funds matching central releases. Chamber state secretary Mandipal Venkat, vice-president Ashorrao and sarpanches attended.
District Prohibition and Excise Officer S. Janaiah said in a statement that applications are invited from interested persons for grant of prior clearance to set up one 2B bar within Kalluru municipality limits under the Telangana Excise Rules 2005. The applications are being invited as per orders of the Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise. The 'Satavahana Grameena Santa' opened on Monday at Revenue Gardens in Karimnagar, with the stated aims of promoting indigenous products, protecting the environment and safeguarding health. Organised by Grama Bharati, the exhibition has 40 stalls, with handloom fabrics, organic food items, clay pots, handicrafts and herbal health products among the main attractions. Chief guest Pendyala Keshava Reddy and neurologist Dr Vikram Singh Thakur said patronising indigenous products would generate employment for local artisans and rural craftspeople. They urged promotion of eco-friendly products for a plastic-free society.
Acting on information about wildlife being transported, SOT police checked vehicles at the Shadnagar toll plaza in Telangana's Rangareddy district. Deer meat was found in two suspicious cars, police said. Officers seized 13 kg of deer meat, a rifle believed to have been used for hunting and the two cars, and detained eight people, who were handed over to Kothur police. Officials said action was taken under the Wildlife Protection Act and the accused were remanded. Investigation into the hunting site and others involved continues.
Jangaon District Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha, along with RDO Kiran Prakash, inspected the Telangana Social Welfare Gurukul School at Palakurthi mandal headquarters on Monday and sought details on reports that students were bitten by rats on the 22nd of this month. Students said they had no fever or bleeding and that food was good. The collector said no bite marks or scratches were found and urged people not to believe rumours. He expressed dissatisfaction with panchayat secretary Srinivas Reddy over sanitation.
Police in Telangana's Rajanna Sircilla district arrested a man making country bombs and a gang poaching wild animals. Chandurthi CI Venkateswarlu said a buffalo owned by Dharmaram farmer Mudike Mallesham died after biting a country bomb, and a case was booked on his complaint. Seizures included 7 bombs, gun powder and Rs 2,000 from Pittala Rajalingam, 10 bombs each from Padige Lasmayya and Tummala Kanukaraju, and 40 bombs from Mogili Anjayya. Cases were filed under BNS, Explosives and Wildlife Acts.
