The leaders said farmers were facing severe difficulties as purchases had not begun at procurement centres, and that weather changes and rains were adding to their losses. They demanded that the delay be ended and procurement completed quickly.
International Day of Older Persons was observed at the Jangaon integrated collectorate under the District Rural Development Agency. Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha said priority must go to the health, financial security and dignity of the elderly, and that Section 23 of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 allows cancellation of property transfers. He said toll-free number 14567 operates from 8 am to 8 pm. Pranam centres serve 50-60 elderly persons daily.
Jangaon District Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha, along with RDO Kiran Prakash, inspected the Telangana Social Welfare Gurukul School at Palakurthi mandal headquarters on Monday and sought details on reports that students were bitten by rats on the 22nd of this month. Students said they had no fever or bleeding and that food was good. The collector said no bite marks or scratches were found and urged people not to believe rumours. He expressed dissatisfaction with panchayat secretary Srinivas Reddy over sanitation.
