The 10th season of Celebrity Dandiya Nights 2026, organised by Hyderabad Models and Raghavi Media, will be held from October 9 to 20 at Flipside Adventure Park on ISB Road in the Financial District. The 12-day event will feature traditional dandiya, music, dance and entertainment as key attractions. Families, youth, celebrities, influencers, fashion models and figures from the entertainment industry are expected to take part.
Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials seized 800 grams of gold jewellery worth about Rs 1.20 crore at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad, Hyderabad. According to officials, a Hyderabad-based jewellery trader was travelling by air from Tiruchirappalli to Hyderabad. Acting on prior specific intelligence that he was moving gold illegally, officers stopped and searched him, finding the jewellery in his baggage. He was taken into custody for testing and valuation. A case has been registered and DRI is investigating the gold's origin and whether others were involved.
Rangareddy district medical and health officer Dr B. Swarnakumari was caught by ACB officials in a case of demanding a Rs 2 lakh bribe. ACB City Range-2 officials said the bribe was sought to return the keys of a sealed physiotherapy centre, avoid further action and issue a new licence. The money was seized from private driver Madduri Krishnaiah while he was accepting the first instalment of Rs 1 lakh. Health inspector M. Srinivas and Krishnaiah were taken into custody. The investigation is continuing.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau has taken into custody the Rangareddy district medical and health officer (DM&HO), a health inspector and a private car driver who acted as a middleman in a Rs 1 lakh bribery case. According to the ACB, Rs 2 lakh was demanded to return the keys of a physiotherapy centre sealed for operating without a licence, drop further action and grant a new licence. Acting on the owner's complaint, officials trapped the driver and recovered the money. The accused are being produced before the special court.
The office of the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), Rangareddy district in Telangana, has invited applications to fill 13 posts on a contract basis. They include six medical officer and two pharmacist posts, and one each of psychologist, DEIC manager, staff nurse, lab technician and social worker. Depending on the post, candidates need Intermediate, a diploma, GNM, PG or MBBS, with Telangana Medical Council registration. Age limit is 18-34 years; pay is Rs 21,000-Rs 40,000 a month. Selection is on academic merit and reservation. Offline applications close May 9, 2022.
An IndiGo aircraft, flight 6E352, flying from Pune to Hyderabad was struck by a bird while in the air. The pilot brought the situation under control and landed the plane safely at Shamshabad Airport, with no harm to passengers or crew. Experts who inspected the aircraft after landing found a dent on its front portion, preliminarily attributed to the bird strike. Officials said the pilot's prompt action averted a major accident. A Chandigarh service was cancelled due to technical problems.
As part of the investigation into the alleged MLAs poaching case at the Moinabad farmhouse, Fifth Metropolitan Magistrate D. Devender Babu recorded the statement of Tandur MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy at the Rangareddy district court on Tuesday. Reddy is the complainant in the case, and his statement had to be recorded under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code by a magistrate outside the jurisdiction. Saroornagar police produced the MLA in court under special security.
An awareness programme marking Civil Rights Day was held on Wednesday in Settipalli village of Amangal mandal, Rangareddy district. The tahsildar, deputy tahsildar, village sarpanch, ward members, police officers, village elders, women and residents took part. Officials explained civil rights, rights granted by the Constitution, equality and the eradication of untouchability. They also outlined key provisions of the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, victims' rights and available legal remedies, urging citizens to respect others' rights.
Birthday celebrations for former Shadnagar MLA Elganamoni Anjaiah Yadav were held at the MLA camp office on Sunday. A specially prepared cake was cut by Anjaiah Yadav, and former Chegur PACS chairman Mamilla Vithal Mudiraj offered him birthday greetings. Vithal described Anjaiah Yadav as an uncrowned leader who worked for the constituency's development, saying that development is visible in every village. Bantaram Mallesh, Errolla Narsimha and Kolam Ramesh also attended.
Chevella MLA Kale Yadaiah on Monday launched underground drainage works being taken up at a cost of Rs 5 lakh in Urella village of Chevella mandal, Rangareddy district, along with MPP Vijayalakshmi and ZPTC Malathi. He said villages were being given priority under CM KCR after Telangana's formation and developed on par with towns. ORS and zinc were distributed to children under five at anganwadi centres in Urella and Thangadipalli. Diarrhoea fortnight and malaria month programmes began at Chilkur health sub-centre in Moinabad mandal.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged the Centre to confer the Bharat Ratna on former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and to set up a knowledge centre in his memory in New Delhi. He unveiled a memorial park and statue built by HMDA at Wipro Circle in Hyderabad's Financial District. He recalled Singh's liberalisation reforms and laws on education, information, employment guarantee and food security. Singh's signature on the Telangana formation Bill has been preserved at the park.
An all-party meeting at Basheerbagh Press Club demanded a permanent solution to the land dispute continuing for 23 years in the name of a hardware park at Nadergul, Adibatla and M.M. Kunta. Speakers said land acquisition began in 2004 but the land is not fully in use, while nearly 20,000 plot owners and farmers face difficulties. Kodandaram, MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Kodanda Reddy and ET Narasimha attended.
Acting on information about wildlife being transported, SOT police checked vehicles at the Shadnagar toll plaza in Telangana's Rangareddy district. Deer meat was found in two suspicious cars, police said. Officers seized 13 kg of deer meat, a rifle believed to have been used for hunting and the two cars, and detained eight people, who were handed over to Kothur police. Officials said action was taken under the Wildlife Protection Act and the accused were remanded. Investigation into the hunting site and others involved continues.
The 131st birth anniversary of Telangana armed struggle figure Chakali Ailamma was observed on Saturday at Ravicheted village in Kadthal mandal, Rangareddy district. Led by ward member and Rajaka Sangham president Somaraju Ravikumar, participants garlanded Ailamma's statue and cut a cake. Ravicheted sarpanch Boppidi Gopal, district vice-president of the sarpanches' association, said Ailamma symbolised Telangana's self-respect and had fought Razakars and landlords for land, livelihood and freedom from bonded labour. Public representatives and Rajaka Sangham members attended.
Rajendranagar MLA T Prakash Goud said he would do his part for the development of the constituency. Mudiraj leaders of Shamshabad town felicitated him at his residence on Sunday after his fourth win as MLA. He said he had developed the Rajendranagar constituency over 15 years and that necessary steps would be taken for further development. Even without being in government, he said, he would bring funds and remain accessible to people. Leaders of the Shamshabad Mudiraj association attended.
Former sarpanch Kanakamamidi Srinivas Mudiraj of the Congress and Boligidda Jagadish, brother of Congress mandal president Boligidda Satyanarayana, joined the BRS in Tholkatta village of Moinabad mandal. Three ward members and some Congress workers also joined. The switch took place under BRS mandal president Daareddy Venkat Reddy and in the presence of former minister and Maheshwaram MLA Sabitha Indrareddy. She said workers were turning to BRS as the government had not implemented its election promises.
The Rangareddy district administration has sanctioned 60 new government schools with English-medium sections for the coming academic year, focusing on fast-growing suburbs near Shamshabad and Maheshwaram. Each school will get digital classrooms and a mid-day meal kitchen. The district education officer said the decision responds to migration into the district's peri-urban mandals and aims to reduce dropout in Classes 8 to 10.
