Police carried out a cordon and search operation in Indranagar Colony in Vikarabad town on Tuesday morning as part of community policing. On the orders of District SP Sneha Mehra, CIs, SIs and staff led by the DSP checked houses, vehicles and their documents. The SP said vehicles without papers, liquor bottles, banned gutka, adulterated food items, adulterated chocolates and adulterated chilli powder were found. Amid frequent disputes, two rowdy-sheeters were jailed and shops were told to close by 9 pm.
Four people died and several were injured when a private travels bus went out of control and overturned on Ananthagiri Ghat Road near Kerelli village in Vikarabad district on 03.10.2026. Police said the injured were shifted to hospitals. During investigation, bus driver Palthya Vasudev alias Vasu (30), of Sangamesh Thanda, Regode mandal, Medak district, was held responsible, arrested on 05.10.2026 and sent to judicial remand by a court. Dharur Circle Inspector Ch. Raghuramulu said the probe into the causes continues.
Vikarabad district has recorded 474.4 mm of rainfall as on October 4 against a normal of 671.6 mm for the period, a shortfall of 197.2 mm. The district average deficit stands at 29 percent. Of 20 mandals, 15 are in deficit and four recorded normal rainfall. Bantwaram has a 55 percent deficit and Peddemul 53 percent. Bomraspet alone received 658.9 mm against a normal of 522.8 mm, 26 percent excess. No mandal recorded rain on October 4. Farmers are anxious.
Four people died when a private bus overturned on Ananthagiri Ghat Road in Telangana's Vikarabad district on Saturday morning. Four others are in critical condition and 20 suffered serious injuries. The bus was carrying 51 people from Kyasaram in Patancheru mandal, Sangareddy district, to a funeral at Chintakunta in Dharur mandal. The driver fled. Authorities announced Rs 5 lakh for each deceased family and Rs 1 lakh for the injured. CM Revanth Reddy and KTR expressed shock.
IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Saturday announced Rs 5 lakh each to families of those killed and Rs 1 lakh each to the seriously injured in the Vikarabad district bus accident. He visited the injured in hospital. Police said 51 people from Isnapur and Kyasaram villages in Patancheru mandal, Sangareddy district, were travelling to a funeral at Chintakunta when the bus overturned at a bend on the Ananthagiri hills road. Four died. A case was registered against the travels management and the driver.

A private bus met with an accident on Ananthagiri Ghat Road in Telangana's Vikarabad district. Passengers from Kesaram village in Patancheru mandal of Sangareddy district were travelling to Chintakunta village in Darur mandal for a funeral when the mishap occurred. Police reached the spot and began relief work. SP Sneha Mehra inspected the site and directed officials on shifting the injured and managing traffic. She later visited the government hospital with the District Collector. Police are investigating the cause.
Leaders of the Bharat Vikalangula Hakkula Parirakshana Samithi held a protest in Vikarabad on Gandhi Jayanti, alleging the government has not implemented promises made to persons with disabilities during the assembly elections. State president Gidde Rajesh, general secretary Kavali Narsimhulu and district president Pothuraju Sudhir had half their beard and moustache shaved, then began an indefinite hunger strike. Demands include raising pension to Rs 6,000, free RTC travel, filling backlog posts and a separate welfare department.
Union Minister Kishan Reddy and Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy inspected modernisation works at Vikarabad railway station, being taken up at a cost of Rs 27 crore. The works include a canteen, an escalator, two lifts and special facilities for persons with disabilities, and are to be completed by the end of this year. Officials said 42 stations across Telangana are being developed simultaneously. At Chevella, the minister questioned officials over delays in the Hyderabad-Bijapur road works, citing accident risk from excessive curves, and promised a special review meeting.
Managers of a goshala within the Krishnagiri temple premises near Basireddipalli in Parigi mandal of Telangana's Vikarabad district said a tiger attacked a cow there. The animal died of severe neck and abdominal injuries, with claw marks found on its back. A calf was carried away three days earlier. Manager Krishnaswamy said the goshala houses about 200 cows. Police and forest officials examined CCTV footage from an adjoining farmhouse and launched joint efforts to capture the tiger.
A man hacked his father to death with an axe at Baimidi Thanda in Peddemul mandal of Vikarabad district. According to Tandur Rural CI Praveen Kumar Reddy, Rathod Lokya Naik, an alcoholic, frequently harassed his wife Bikki Bai and daughter. After an attack on Friday, the mother informed her son Sunil Naik, an auto driver in Hyderabad, who reached the village and confronted his father. In the quarrel he struck Lokya Naik on the neck and head, killing him. The accused was arrested and remanded on Saturday.
