BJP's Konda Satya Yadav elected Narayanpet municipal chairman

BJP candidate Konda Satya Yadav has won the Narayanpet municipal chairman post. He secured 13 votes, including the ex-officio vote, while the Congress candidate received 11 votes. TRS members remaining neutral and the party avoiding internal differences worked in the BJP's favour. The party gained control of the municipality through key alignments. Manjula Raghavender Reddy was elected vice chairman.

Paddy procurement centre opened at Narayanpet municipal office

A paddy procurement centre has been set up at the municipal office in Narayanpet town for the convenience of farmers. The centre is run by the Town Women's Federation under MEPMA. Municipal Vice Chairman Manjula attended as chief guest and inaugurated it on Thursday. She said paddy should be procured without inconvenience to farmers and that basic amenities be arranged. Market secretary Lakshman, supervisor Bharathi, district MEPMA DMC Shivakumar and MLA's PA Madhava Reddy participated.

Narayanpet completes arrangements for third phase panchayat polls

Third-phase panchayat elections in Narayanpet district will be held in Narva, Maganur, Krishna, Makthal and Utkoor mandals of Makthal constituency. Of 110 gram panchayats, 10 sarpanch posts were filled unanimously, and 327 candidates are contesting the remaining 100. Of 994 wards, 229 were unanimous, while 1,992 candidates are contesting 775 ward seats. Officials said web cameras were installed at 55 sensitive centres, with 920 polling stations, 2,586 staff, 79 buses and micro observers at 183 stations.

CM Revanth Reddy inspects lift irrigation works at Maktal

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Thursday inspected irrigation project works in the combined Mahabubnagar district. Arriving at Maktal in Narayanpet district directly from Bengaluru, he first viewed a photo exhibition on works under the Maktal-Narayanpet-Kodangal lift irrigation scheme. At the Package-1 site near Katrevupalli village in Maktal mandal, he asked officials about progress on pump house works and directed them to begin concrete works and complete them quickly. Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Damodar Rajanarsimha, Jupally Krishna Rao, Vakiti Srihari and former Karnataka minister NS Boseraju accompanied him.

Mandal-level Praja Vani to begin at Maganur from Monday

Mandal-level Praja Vani will be held from Monday to hear public grievances directly and resolve them quickly, MPDO Srinivasulu said. In a statement on Friday, he said the programme will be conducted at the Maganur MPDO office on the orders of the Narayanpet district collector. Complaints on land issues, pensions, ration cards, education, health, power, roads, drainage, drinking water and welfare schemes will be accepted. Officials from about 23 departments will be available, and applications will be forwarded to the concerned departments.

10 tonnes of fake cotton seeds seized in Narayanpet district

Police in Telangana's Narayanpet district seized 10 tonnes of fake HT cotton seeds valued at about Rs 1 crore. SP Dr Vineeth said district police, a task force and the agriculture department raided Bandagonda village in Narayanpet mandal and Bhuneed in Kothapalli mandal on Sunday evening. The seeds were recovered from the homes of V. Balakrishna Naidu and Sasivardhan Naidu of Bhuneed. Two cases were registered. District Agriculture Officer John Sudhakar said the quantity was enough to sow three mandals.

Cotton procurement halted in Ootkur, farmers block road

Officials on Wednesday halted CCI cotton procurement at Vijaya Cotton Industry in Ootkur mandal of Telangana's Narayanpet district, citing continuous rain since Tuesday night. Protesting farmers sat on the main road, stalling RTC buses and private vehicles for about three hours. Farmers demanded withdrawal of the 8-12% moisture norm, saying cotton with higher moisture was being refused. They ended the protest after officials promised to resume purchases after 12 noon.
