MLA Pitani distributes pattadar passbooks in Penumantra mandal

Pattadar passbooks bearing the royal seal were distributed in Neggipudi and Koyyetipadu villages of Penumantra mandal on Wednesday under the state government's 'Mee Bhoomi–Mee Hakku' programme. Achanta MLA, Assembly privileges committee chairman and former minister Pitani Satyanarayana handed over the passbooks. In Neggipudi, 274 farmers received them, while in Koyyetipadu 480 of 496 farmers did. He said the coalition government was prioritising farmer welfare and ensuring transparent land records.

Farmers in Manthani mandal of Telangana's Peddapalli district said erratic power supply was leaving their crops to dry up. Naramalla Sravan Kumar of Khanapur village protested by riding his motorcycle across his cracked paddy field. Farmers said that despite the Kaleshwaram project and Godavari river being nearby, their fields get no irrigation water, and poor power quality is burning out borewell motors, adding to costs. They urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu to ensure uninterrupted quality supply.

Fine variety paddy grown in the rainy season at Rajapuram in Annapureddipalli mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district fetched Rs 3,450 a quintal. Farmer Puchchakayala Ganapathi Reddy of the village cultivated the 12368 fine paddy variety on 6 acres. Early transplantation brought the crop to harvest in the first week of October, and one acre was harvested on Tuesday, yielding about 30 quintals. Private traders competed to buy the grain. The state pays Rs 2,961 — Rs 2,461 support price plus Rs 500 bonus — Rs 489 less.

Chandupatla PACS gives Rs 90,000 aid to deceased members' families

The Chandupatla Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society in Bhuvanagiri mandal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district extended financial assistance to the families of members who died of illness. Heirs of Thotakuri Peddadanayya (54), Dommata Pentayya (85) and Kankala Lakshmi (46), who died recently, were given Rs 30,000 each, totalling Rs 90,000, on Monday from the members' dividend fund. Chairperson Jeelugu Satish Pawan handed over the aid, saying cooperatives should support members' families in difficult times and share in member welfare.

El Nino cuts paddy yields in Nellore district

Paddy yields in the second-season crop have fallen in Nellore district due to El Nino, farmers said. Water was allocated for 3.5 lakh acres, but farmers sowed only three lakh acres. Cultivation cost per acre rose from Rs 36,000 last year to Rs 41,000 this season. With KNM 1638 and KNM 733 fetching Rs 27,000-29,000 per putti, growers expected four puttis an acre. Farmer P. Ravindra Babu of Tarunavayi lost six to seven bags an acre. District Agriculture Officer Satyavani said intense heat reduced grain quality.

Use water sparingly amid El Nino, says MLA Veeresham

Government Whip and MLA Vemula Veeresham urged farmers to use available water sparingly in view of El Nino conditions. He spoke at a division-level farmer training programme launched on Monday at Nakrekal under the local agriculture department and the ATMA committee. He advised farmers to choose crop varieties that yield higher profits with less water in the Yasangi season, said crop rotation improves soil fertility, and asked them to focus on irrigated-dry crops and pulses. Chittoor mango growers adopt top working to change varieties

Mango farmers in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district are using top working, a grafting method that produces new varieties on old trees. Branches are cut at four feet, and shoots collected from a mother plant are grafted on. Fruit is harvested from the second year. In a 30-year-old orchard with 50 trees an acre, 20 grafts per tree means 1,000 grafts at Rs 5 each, or Rs 5,000. Horticulture AD Dr Koteswara Rao said ten varieties can be grown on one tree.

Farmers in Bichkunda mandal of Kamareddy district staged a dharna and rasta roko, saying irregular agricultural power supply was drying up their crops. Chandrababu lays foundation for Global Horticulture Hub at Madanapalle

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Friday laid the foundation stone at Madanapalle in Annamayya district for a Global Horticulture Hub to be developed at Rs 1 lakh crore and an Indian School of Agriculture being set up with Reliance support. Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, Anant Ambani and Minister Nara Lokesh attended. Naidu said Rs 40,000 crore would come with central support and Rs 60,000 crore from private investment, covering 5,860 villages in 201 clusters and six lakh additional acres.

Rain, cloudy weather and high humidity could expose kharif chilli crops to sap-sucking pests and fungal diseases, Warangal district horticulture officer Srinivasa Rao said. To check root and stem rot, copper oxychloride at 3 grams per litre of water should be drenched at the plant base. He advised spraying imidacloprid 0.5 ml per litre for whitefly, prifonil 2 ml for thrips and dicofol 5 ml for mites. Officials also suggested 10-15 sticky traps per acre and measured fertiliser use.

Bamboo harvesting to begin in Alluri district from October

Officials have decided to start bamboo harvesting in Alluri Sitharama Raju district from the first week of October. A video conference chaired by the SERP CEO on Wednesday was attended by the PCCF, district collectors, DFOs and PD-DRDAs. Under the DAY-NRLM Bamboo Subsector Programme, Andhra Pradesh has a target of 35,000 farmers for 2026-27, with 5,000 farmers across 11 mandals in Alluri district. Chittoor district gets Rs 1,529.69 crore horticulture plan

Chittoor district has been allocated Rs 1,529.69 crore under the Rayalaseema Integrated Horticulture Development Plan. Twenty horticulture clusters will be developed across 27 mandals over three years — five in 2026-27, eight in 2027-28 and seven in 2028-29. Husnabad officer urges all farmers to obtain Farmer ID card

Husnabad Agriculture Officer Pooja said every farmer must obtain a Farmer ID card as advised by the central government, speaking at an awareness session at the Husnabad Rythu Vedika in Siddipet district. She said the card is mandatory like an Aadhaar card and is useful for selling crops, crop registration, urea booking and availing central and state welfare schemes. Registration of 80% of mandal farmers is complete; the rest can register through the agriculture extension officer, MeeSeva or cooperative societies by September 30.
