MLA Mynampally Hanmantha Rao responded to rumours of a constituency change, saying he will contest only from Malkajgiri. He alleged that some people were deliberately spreading falsehoods on social media claiming he would contest from Kutbullapur or Medchal. Positions were not important and party workers were, he said, adding he was ready to sacrifice his life for them. He resigned from the BRS on Friday. Congress leader Narsa Reddy Bhupathi Reddy invited him to the party. He is unhappy his son Rohith was denied the Medak ticket.
Uppal MLA Bandari Laxma Reddy laid foundation stones for development works worth about Rs 1 crore in the Nacharam and HMT Nagar divisions. Allocations include Rs 9 lakh for underground drainage in Sainagar Colony, Rs 13 lakh for a drinking water pipeline in Sri Raghavendranagar, Rs 33.8 lakh for a CC road in Koundinyanagar, Rs 47.8 lakh for remaining CC roads in Bhavaninagar and about Rs 20 lakh for a CC road behind Shiva Nursing Home in Raghavendranagar. The MLA said infrastructure is being taken up in phases.
The Housing Board last month issued a notification to sell 7.8 acres of government land at KPHB in Hyderabad, fixing a floor price of Rs 40 crore per acre. In an e-auction lasting about three hours, the bid price rose 46 times, and Godrej Properties secured the land at Rs 70 crore per acre. Housing Board vice chairman V.P. Gautam said Aurobindo Realty, Prestige Estates and Ashoka Builders also bid. Proceeds will fund the Indiramma housing scheme, which gives beneficiaries Rs 5 lakh. Rajiv Swagruha Corporation earned Rs 70.11 crore selling three incomplete towers at Pocharam and Gajularamaram.
A road accident occurred on the Hyderabad-Warangal national highway near Ghatkesar in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. A speeding lorry hit a motorcycle from behind, killing Shravani, 17, on the spot. Her parents, Uma and Suresh, sustained serious injuries. Locals who noticed the accident shifted the injured to a nearby hospital. The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle at the spot and fled after the crash. Police registered a case and launched a search for the absconding driver.
Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy reviewed progress on the Uppal elevated corridor with Roads and Buildings officials and construction agency representatives, stating that delays and negligence would not be tolerated. He directed that manpower be increased to run work in three shifts, including from 11 pm to 6 am, and that the 6.25 km BT road under the corridor be finished by month-end. He said the target is to open the corridor by October 2026 (Dasara) and that he would inspect the site personally every ten days.
Four houses were burgled on the same day in Ravalkole village under Medchal police station limits. The targeted homes belonged to Tarigoppula Rajamani, Bandela Narsamma, Sandeep Reddy and Swaroopa. With the houses unoccupied, the intruder struck at midnight, cutting locks with a hacksaw blade and taking gold, silver and cash. From Bandela Narsamma's house, 9 tolas of gold, 80 tolas of silver and Rs 2 lakh in cash were stolen. Alerted by family members, police reached the spot, registered a case and began investigating using CCTV footage.
The swearing-in of the new executive body of Sri Bhavana Rishi Welfare Association (SBRWA) was held at Konda Laxman Bapuji Park in Padmashali Township, Kapra. Uppal MLA Bandari Lakshma Reddy attended as chief guest and congratulated newly elected president Deepa Yemula and the executive members. He said the association should work towards community development, service activities and unity, and promised full support to public welfare programmes.
