Farmer rides bike on parched paddy field in Manthani protest

Farmers in Manthani mandal of Telangana's Peddapalli district said erratic power supply was leaving their crops to dry up. Naramalla Sravan Kumar of Khanapur village protested by riding his motorcycle across his cracked paddy field. Farmers said that despite the Kaleshwaram project and Godavari river being nearby, their fields get no irrigation water, and poor power quality is burning out borewell motors, adding to costs. They urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu to ensure uninterrupted quality supply.

Forest officials seize hunting nets, snares in Peddapalli village

On the Peddapalli district forest officer's orders, forest staff of the Manthani and Peddapalli ranges, with Mutharam police, carried out a cordon and search operation on Wednesday at Adivishrampur village in Mutharam mandal. They seized 2 hunting nets, 20 snares, 1 iron cage and 2 kg of binding wire. FRO M.V. Nayak warned that illegal tree felling and hunting of wildlife are punishable offences. Awareness programmes followed at Daryapur model school and Manthani government degree college.

Collector asks consumers to use Seva Setu solar camps

District Collector Koya Sriharsha said power consumers should make use of the Seva Setu Abhiyan camps being held jointly by the central and state governments. He took part in a PM Suryaghar programme on Thursday at the electricity office near Jenda Chowrasta. He said consumers should do spot registration at the three-day camp to install rooftop solar panels, and directed officials to create awareness on solar benefits. NPDCL, TG Redco officials, bankers and solar vendors were available on one platform.

Soil tests at Godavarikhani bazaar unsettle shop traders

Soil tests were carried out on Thursday at Old Ashok Bazaar in Lakshminagar, Godavarikhani's main trade centre, under the Ramagundam Municipal Corporation. Proposals for an integrated commercial complex worth about Rs 25 crore under the Urban Challenge Fund were recently approved at a council meeting. Executive engineer Shanti Swaroop said soil samples were drilled, collected and sent to a Hyderabad laboratory. Mobile and cloth shop traders, whose shops were demolished a year ago, expressed concern.

Breastfeeding Week observed at Kalva Srirampur anganwadi centre

Breastfeeding Week events were held Monday at the 1st anganwadi centre in Kalva Srirampur, Peddapalli district, led by anganwadi teacher Hajira. Sarpanch Bangari Ramesh and Upa-Sarpanch Goli Sudhakar conducted annaprasana and aksharabhyasam for children. An awareness session was organised for pregnant and nursing women. The sarpanch said colostrum acts as a baby's first vaccine and advised exclusive breastfeeding for six months. He said balanced meals, milk and eggs are supplied under the Arogya Lakshmi scheme.
