Panchayat secretary, assistant caught taking bribe for house mutation

A resident of Jakkapur village in Narayanaraopet mandal of Siddipet district had applied at the panchayat for mutation of two houses in his name. Panchayat secretary Aruna initially demanded Rs 20,000 as bribe, and the amount was later settled at Rs 15,000. Acting on the complainant's report, ACB officials caught both as assistant Santosh accepted the money at the panchayat office around 11 am Tuesday and seized the cash. Medak ACB DSP Sudarshan said the accused will be produced before the ACB special court in Hyderabad.

Harish Rao calls for grand Siddipet district decade celebrations

Former minister and MLA Harish Rao has called for grand celebrations marking ten years of Siddipet district. A preparatory meeting was held at the Siddipet camp office with employee and teacher associations, doctors, advocates and local notables. He said the district demand, a slogan since 1983, was fulfilled by KCR as Chief Minister on October 11, 2016. With the tenth year falling on October 11, 2026, he proposed a souvenir book, a documentary and discussion forums. MLC Desapathi Srinivas and former MLC Farooq Hussain attended.

Car falls into well in Siddipet district; four of family die

Four members of a family died when a car went out of control and fell into a roadside well on the outskirts of Appanapalli village in Dubbaka mandal, Siddipet district, on Wednesday night. Raju of Balavanthapur, his wife Bhagya, son Niyansh and daughter Sanvika were returning after attending a function in Siddipet. When they did not reach home, relatives informed police, who traced the car using Raju's mobile signal. Police confirmed all four died on the spot, shifted the bodies for post-mortem and registered a case.

Husnabad municipality approves Rs 25 lakh development works

The Husnabad municipal general body meeting was held on Friday in the office meeting hall, chaired by chairperson Akula Rajitha. Members discussed 12 items and approved development works worth Rs 25 lakh in total. Resolutions covered development of parks, a transformer third wire for the dumping yard and DRCC centre, arrangements at Yellamma tank for Ganesh immersion, purchase of mosquito repellent, and shifting pigs in the town outside it. Commissioner Rajamallaiah, vice chairperson Ayileni Anitha and councillors attended.

Husnabad officer urges all farmers to obtain Farmer ID card

Husnabad Agriculture Officer Pooja said every farmer must obtain a Farmer ID card as advised by the central government, speaking at an awareness session at the Husnabad Rythu Vedika in Siddipet district. She said the card is mandatory like an Aadhaar card and is useful for selling crops, crop registration, urea booking and availing central and state welfare schemes. Registration of 80% of mandal farmers is complete; the rest can register through the agriculture extension officer, MeeSeva or cooperative societies by September 30.

Siddipet collector orders Prajavani grievances resolved in a week

District Collector K. Haimavathi, along with Additional Collector (Revenue) Lakshmi Kiran, received petitions from people across the district at the Prajavani programme held on Monday in the Siddipet collectorate meeting hall. A total of 120 petitions on various issues were received. The collector examined each petition and directed officials of concerned departments to take resolution steps within a week and submit an action-taken report at next week's Prajavani. Sanitation drive held at Yellamma temple in Husnabad

Husnabad Municipality in Siddipet district conducted a special sanitation drive at Sri Yellamma Temple on World Tourism Day as part of Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026. Rs 18 crore for Cheryal development, says MLA Palla

Tiger movement reported in Telangana's Siddipet district

Tiger movement on the outskirts of Kootigal and Bhairanpally in Dulmitta mandal of Siddipet district has caused alarm. Villagers said the tiger attacked and killed calves in Ladhnoor and Ammapur villages of Maddur mandal. Forest department officials reached the spot after being informed and examined the pugmarks. Based on the pugmarks, they concluded the tiger entered Siddipet from Yadadri district. Officials warned residents and farmers of Dulmitta and Maddur mandals to stay alert and avoid going out in the evening. The search continues.
