District general secretary L. Anil and mandal secretary M. Munna Kumar said the absence of walls left the premises unprotected, allowing outsiders and cattle to enter. As girls reside and study at the KGBV, they urged officials to sanction funds and begin construction immediately.
A review of Nizamabad district's health department was held Monday at the Secretariat, chaired by Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha. Former minister and Balkonda MLA Vemula Prashanth Reddy sought early completion of the 100-bed area hospital under construction at Bheemgal, a new PHC in Mortad mandal, a new building for Balkonda CHC, an MRI machine for the Government General Hospital and filling of vacant posts. The minister said Nizamabad GGH is being developed as a referral centre, with super speciality services to start in phases.
Residents of Narsingpur village in Dichpally mandal of Telangana's Nizamabad district worship Mahatma Gandhi as a deity and offer prayers to him daily. Villagers said any auspicious occasion in the village, including weddings, traditional gatherings and festivals, begins with garlanding the Gandhi statue and breaking a coconut before him. While Gandhi Jayanti is marked across the country, the villagers said they follow this age-old custom without fail every day.
A Nasha Mukt Bharat programme was held at the Government Junior College (Boys) in Armoor. A rally was taken out with students under the supervision of Principal Subhash, followed by an anti-drugs pledge. Deputy DM&HO Ravinder urged youth to stay away from intoxicants and to take Abdul Kalam as a role model.
