Renigunta drunk driving case: accused gets 10 days community service

A court in Tirupati has ordered community service for a man in a drunk driving case. The II Special Judicial Magistrate of II Class court issued the order on October 7 after A. Munikrishna (34) of Venkatagopalapuram in Renigunta mandal admitted the offence. He must clean and maintain areas around Renigunta urban police station and the government hospital from October 7 to 16, under the Renigunta SHO's supervision, and submit a photo compliance report by 10:30 am on October 17.

Serial gold thefts in Kamareddy; two held, jewellery recovered

Kamareddy district has seen a series of thefts targeting gold jewellery. In Banswada, 29 tolas of gold was stolen from the house of trader Chintala Bhaskar. Acting on CCTV footage, police detained two men at Boggu Gudise Chowrasta and seized 31 tolas of gold, 3 kg of silver, a two-wheeler and mobile phones, SP Rajeshchandra said. One accused had been jailed six times. In Kamareddy, an elderly woman was killed in Kothari Galli and chilli powder thrown in another woman's eyes in Kalkinagar to snatch a 5-tola chain the same day.

Woman killed by unidentified vehicle in Nellore district's Duttaluru

A woman died in a road accident at Nandipadu in Duttaluru mandal of Nellore district on Wednesday. Pullamma (55), a resident of Sriram Nagar Colony in Nandipadu, was crossing the road when an unidentified vehicle came at speed and hit her. The impact threw her into trees beside the road and she died on the spot with severe injuries. The vehicle reportedly did not stop. Duttaluru SI Subhashini registered a case and is investigating to trace it.

Three-year-old boy killed as school bus runs over him in Warangal

A three-year-old boy died after being hit and run over by a private school bus at Pittakalubodu Thanda in Nekkonda mandal of Telangana's Warangal district on Wednesday morning. Rahul, the younger son of village residents Ramesh and Akhila, was playing in front of his house and went onto the road to pick up a toy that had fallen there. A school bus from the mandal headquarters hit him, and its front and rear tyres ran over him, killing him on the spot. His parents were inconsolable.

Man killed by wife and son in Karimnagar district

Tappa Ramesh (42) was killed at Gattududdenapalli in Manakondur mandal of Karimnagar district late on Monday night. According to Manakondur CI P. Srilatha, Ramesh drank alcohol daily and quarrelled with and harassed family members. After another quarrel on Monday night, his wife Sumalatha and son Nikhil attacked him, and he died on the spot of serious injuries. Both later surrendered at the police station. Ramesh married Sumalatha in 2006 and they have two daughters and a son. Police conducted a panchanama, shifted the body to a government hospital, registered a case and are investigating.

Kurnool father hands son's stolen jewellery to police

A father in Kurnool reprimanded his 17-year-old son, who had brought home jewellery stolen with a friend, and handed the valuables to the Fourth Town police station. DSP Raghavendra and CI Vikram Simha said Shaik Faizan, a construction worker from Habib Mubaraknagar in Budhawarapeta, and the minor stole 20 tolas of gold and 300 grams of silver in daylight on the 3rd from manager Raghavendra's house at Seetharama Venture, Kodumur Road. Both were arrested.

Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials seized 800 grams of gold jewellery worth about Rs 1.20 crore at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad, Hyderabad. According to officials, a Hyderabad-based jewellery trader was travelling by air from Tiruchirappalli to Hyderabad. Acting on prior specific intelligence that he was moving gold illegally, officers stopped and searched him, finding the jewellery in his baggage. He was taken into custody for testing and valuation. A case has been registered and DRI is investigating the gold's origin and whether others were involved.

Bhainsa range officials chased a vehicle from Basara and intercepted it near Navipet, recovering 14 wild boars being moved illegally.
