Amit Shah to visit Karimnagar on 4th for college jubilee

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the silver jubilee celebrations of Prathima Medical College in Karimnagar on the 4th of this month, marking 25 years since the college began. He will lay the foundation stone for the Prathima Deemed University building, unveil a pylon, open a photo exhibition and address a students' meeting. Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar inspected arrangements. Shah reaches Begumpet at 9 pm on the 3rd and Karimnagar at 2 pm on the 4th via Thoopran in Medak district.

Collector issues show cause notices to 82 district hospital staff

District Collector Hanumantha Rao has issued show cause notices to 82 staff of the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district government hospital. Action was taken against 19 employees absent from duty without permission and 63 who did not follow timings. He made a surprise inspection of the hospital on Thursday, examining it for three hours. He expressed displeasure at the contractor over incomplete works and at sanitation staff over poor sanitation, spoke to four emergency ward patients and said quality must not be compromised.

Rs 21.85 crore cash seized in Hyderabad, says Ronald Ross

District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner Ronald Ross said enforcement teams in Hyderabad have so far seized Rs 21,85,37,377 in cash, other goods worth Rs 16,70,35,260 and 26,576.325 litres of illicit liquor during the Lok Sabha election period. Cases were booked against 276 people for poll code violations and 274 were arrested, while FIRs were registered against 376 people. Officials resolved 582 complaints on cash and goods and 38 on MCC violations.

Paddy procurement centre opened at Narayanpet municipal office

A paddy procurement centre has been set up at the municipal office in Narayanpet town for the convenience of farmers. The centre is run by the Town Women's Federation under MEPMA. Municipal Vice Chairman Manjula attended as chief guest and inaugurated it on Thursday. She said paddy should be procured without inconvenience to farmers and that basic amenities be arranged. Market secretary Lakshman, supervisor Bharathi, district MEPMA DMC Shivakumar and MLA's PA Madhava Reddy participated.

Woman kills husband with sickle in Kamareddy, taken into custody

A man was killed by his wife in Gosangi Colony of Ward 20 under Kamareddy municipality, Telangana. According to police, Kodandam Lakshmi attacked her husband Shivaji with a sickle kept at home. He died on the spot after severe injuries to the neck. The couple reportedly had family problems for some time and frequent quarrels. Police shifted the body for post-mortem, took Lakshmi into custody, registered a case and are probing other angles.

Soil tests were carried out on Thursday at Old Ashok Bazaar in Lakshminagar, Godavarikhani's main trade centre, under the Ramagundam Municipal Corporation. Pest, disease threat to chilli crop: Warangal horticulture advisory

Rain, cloudy weather and high humidity could expose kharif chilli crops to sap-sucking pests and fungal diseases, Warangal district horticulture officer Srinivasa Rao said. To check root and stem rot, copper oxychloride at 3 grams per litre of water should be drenched at the plant base. He advised spraying imidacloprid 0.5 ml per litre for whitefly, prifonil 2 ml for thrips and dicofol 5 ml for mites. Officials also suggested 10-15 sticky traps per acre and measured fertiliser use.

A house was gutted after a short circuit triggered a fire at Mulugupalli village in Mahamuttaram mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Thursday. Hyderabad has 70 private vehicles for every 100 people, Lok Satta chief and former IAS officer Jayaprakash Narayan said. In an interview to a YouTube channel he said Singapore has 11, Shanghai 17, and London and New York 24-26 per 100 people. He attributed the trend to the absence of quality public transport and first and last mile connectivity, which forms 20% of distance but 40% of time and 60% of cost. Expanding Metro and RTC services is the solution, he said.

Hyderabad to get new electric buses from November

The Centre has allotted 2,200 electric buses to Hyderabad under the PM e-Drive scheme. The RTC has reported to the government that the first batch of 137 buses will be available in the CURE area in November, with the final batch of 385 buses arriving in January 2028. Tender-1 covered 2,000 buses and tender-2 covered 200. Per-kilometre hire ranges from Rs 54.91 to Rs 66.60. EVEY Trans received 60 AC and 1,025 non-AC low-floor buses.
