Telangana Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said construction under four phases of Indiramma houses would begin by the coming elections and be completed within the present government's term, with keys handed to beneficiaries. He laid the foundation stone for Indiramma Towers at Red Hills in Hyderabad's Nampally constituency on Tuesday. Registration will be done free by the government, and house documents will allow bank loans of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. Sites have been identified in 20 constituencies of the city's core region.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, after visiting the Bhimeshwara Swamy temple at Vemulawada in Rajanna Sircilla district on Tuesday morning, asked whether BJP leaders had ever said 'Om Namah Shivaya'. He said the Chief Minister had described Shiva as the god of the poor, that his party opposed no deity, and that Shiva was the deity of southerners. Government whips Adi Srinivas, CH Vijayaramana Rao and Vemula Veresham accompanied him. Madhu Yashki Goud said BJP leaders practise politics in god's name.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will tour the erstwhile Karimnagar district on Wednesday, with the schedule released on Tuesday evening by his personal secretary Narmala Srinivas. He reaches Karimnagar at 3 pm and receives a police guard of honour between 3.10 and 3.40 pm. He will unveil a Telangana Talli statue, inaugurate the new collectorate building and lay foundation stones for development works. At 4.45 pm he reaches Sircilla, walks from Ambedkar Circle at 5 pm and addresses a public meeting.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will visit Sircilla on Wednesday. At 3 pm he will inaugurate the collectorate building complex in Karimnagar and review work with district officials. At 4 pm he will travel by helicopter to Sircilla and join a rally from Ambedkar Chowrasta to the meeting venue. He will then lay foundation stones for development works worth Rs 345.78 crore and address the gathering. Congress has arranged to mobilise about one lakh people from seven constituencies. The meeting continues till 7.45 pm.
The team of the film 'Paradise' toured Mulugu district on Tuesday. Actor Nani, producer Cherukuri Sudhakar, director Srikanth Odela and actor Sampoornesh Babu first visited Gattamma on the outskirts of Mulugu, then Sammakka and Saralamma at Medaram in Tadvai mandal. Nani offered 74 kg of jaggery, new clothes and 'sare' to the deities and performed prayers. Priests' association president Siddaboyina Jaggarao and jatara EO Rajendram handed them sacred cloth and prasadam. Fan crowds prevented the team from addressing the media.
Tremors were recorded in Telangana's Bhadradri Kothagudem district, with mild shaking felt in Kothagudem, Bhadrachalam, Burgampahad and Palvancha. The tremors occurred at 2.26 am, after midnight on Saturday. Officials said the magnitude was measured at 3.8 on the Richter scale. As the shaking came in the middle of the night, residents were alarmed and ran out of their homes. No loss of life or damage to property was reported due to the earthquake.
Hyderabad city police deployed She Teams from September 14 to 26 at the Khairatabad and Balapur Ganesh pandals, other major pandals, crowded areas and immersion routes to ensure the safety of women and girls. A total of 2,935 people were detained for eve-teasing, harassment and other objectionable activities. Officials said 858 were counselled, warned and released, 69 were punished, 24 fined Rs 1,050, 40 given community service with a Rs 1,050 fine, and five fined and jailed.
All-party leaders urged the Union government to retain the originally proposed alignment of the Hyderabad-Amaravati-Chennai high-speed bullet train via Choutuppal, Suryapet and Kodad. The decision was announced at a preparatory meeting held on Monday at Kodad Public Club function hall, organised by former MLA Bollam Mallaiah Yadav. He said hundreds had died in accidents caused by traffic congestion on National Highway 65, and rail access would aid business, medical and industrial growth. CPM, CPI, Congress, BJP and MRPS leaders said they were ready for phased agitations.
District-level celebrations for the International Day of Older Persons will be held on October 1, Mancherial District Welfare Officer Rauf Khan said. The programme will begin at 10 am at the Integrated District Offices Complex in Naspur. It will create awareness on the welfare of older persons, protection of their rights, a dignified and peaceful life, and social security, and explain government schemes and services. Week-long programmes are under way until October 1. He urged officials, youth and elderly persons to attend in large numbers.
Bethi Ashok Babu, elected unanimously as Indian Red Cross Society Warangal district chairman, was felicitated by the traders' association, credit society and commission traders of Warangal's Lakshmipuram vegetable market. He was presented bouquets and honoured with a shawl. He served 16 years as district vegetable market secretary and continues as president of the market credit society. Adilabad district has received a state-level award in recognition of its work on developing tourist sites, promoting tourism and providing better facilities for visitors. The award was presented on behalf of the state government by Special Chief Secretary Vani Prasad on the occasion of World Tourism Day. District Tourism Officer Ravikumar said the recognition reflects measures taken under Collector Rajarshi Shah's leadership, and that efforts continue to attract tourists from across the state. Ravikumar met the Collector at the camp office on Tuesday evening to convey congratulations.
The Housing Board last month issued a notification to sell 7.8 acres of government land at KPHB in Hyderabad, fixing a floor price of Rs 40 crore per acre. In an e-auction lasting about three hours, the bid price rose 46 times, and Godrej Properties secured the land at Rs 70 crore per acre. Housing Board vice chairman V.P. Gautam said Aurobindo Realty, Prestige Estates and Ashoka Builders also bid. Proceeds will fund the Indiramma housing scheme, which gives beneficiaries Rs 5 lakh. Rajiv Swagruha Corporation earned Rs 70.11 crore selling three incomplete towers at Pocharam and Gajularamaram.
An all-party meeting at Basheerbagh Press Club demanded a permanent solution to the land dispute continuing for 23 years in the name of a hardware park at Nadergul, Adibatla and M.M. Kunta. Speakers said land acquisition began in 2004 but the land is not fully in use, while nearly 20,000 plot owners and farmers face difficulties. T Prasadu and Jallipalli Murali Mohan were elected unanimously on Tuesday as mandal president and general secretary of the Forum for Physical Science Teachers. A one-day training programme for Sathupally division physical science teachers was held at the Zilla Parishad High School in Adasarlapadu, Vemsur mandal. Complex headmaster Srinivasa Rao said the new committee should guide efforts to strengthen physical science. The new office-bearers said curriculum, question-paper and teacher issues would be taken to officials. Sudarshan and Teressa participated.
District SP Akhil Mahajan said 35 police teams simultaneously inspected scrap shops in 10 mandals of Adilabad district to curb anti-social activities. The checks covered Adilabad One Town, Two Town, Mavala, Bela, Indervelly, Ichoda, Gudihathnoor, Neradigonda, Narnoor and Boath mandals. Several items were found at 13 scrap shops and cases are being registered at the respective police stations, he said. He warned of strict action against those buying stolen goods, vehicles and metals such as copper.

Husnabad Agriculture Officer Pooja said every farmer must obtain a Farmer ID card as advised by the central government, speaking at an awareness session at the Husnabad Rythu Vedika in Siddipet district. She said the card is mandatory like an Aadhaar card and is useful for selling crops, crop registration, urea booking and availing central and state welfare schemes. Registration of 80% of mandal farmers is complete; the rest can register through the agriculture extension officer, MeeSeva or cooperative societies by September 30.
MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy has appealed to farmers to cooperate with the land re-survey being conducted in the state. He inspected the re-survey programme in Agrampahad village of Atmakur mandal and asked officials about the progress of the process. He said the re-survey would provide a permanent solution to land problems, urging farmers to furnish land details transparently and officials to verify and record them on the ground. He later met beneficiaries of milch buffaloes given through the SC Corporation in Nerukulla, Kamaram and Penchikalapet villages. Mandal party president Jalandhar Reddy accompanied him.
Adilabad district recorded a maximum temperature of 40.8 degrees Celsius on Friday, after a week of readings above 39 degrees. Talamadugu and Bhoraj logged 40.8 degrees, Satnala 40.5, Jainath 40.4, Adilabad Urban and Bela 40.1, Ichoda and Mavala 39.2, and Bheempur 38.7. Weather department officials said the impact of the heat would increase further. Roads turn deserted in the afternoon. Officials and doctors advised precautions against heatstroke.
