The Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Tuniki in Telangana's Medak district has invited applications to fill five posts. The vacancies are Senior Scientist-Head, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy), Programme Assistant (Soil Science), Office Assistant and Skilled Supporting Staff, one each. Depending on the post, candidates must have passed matriculation, ITI, bachelor's/master's, degree or doctoral degree. The Telangana government launched a common pass allowing travel on both Hyderabad Metro and TGSRTC services with a single card at an event in Praja Bhavan. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar unveiled it. The daily pass costs Rs 400 (Metro Rs 300, RTC Rs 100) and the monthly pass Rs 8,500 (Metro Rs 7,000, RTC Rs 1,500). A Rs 100 security deposit applies and is refunded when the card is returned. It covers RTC city buses within the Outer Ring Road and all Metro trains.
As part of National Wildlife Week, the Forest Department organised an awareness rally at the Komaram Bheem Asifabad district headquarters. Forest officials, staff, students and nature lovers walked through the town's main streets raising slogans. Officials said the aim was to create public awareness on wildlife protection, the importance of forests and conservation of biodiversity. FRO Sardar Govind said hunting or harming wildlife is a punishable offence, and urged people to report suspicious activity to forest officials.
Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), Hyderabad, has issued a notification to fill 310 ITI Trade Apprentice posts. Online applications opened on September 30 and close on October 11. Vacancies include 87 fitter, 86 electronics mechanic, 50 electrician and 41 COPA posts. Candidates need an ITI/NCVT certificate in the relevant trade and must be aged 18-25 as on October 31, 2026. Selection is based on ITI marks, with a monthly stipend of Rs 7,700 to Rs 8,050.
Residents of Narsingpur village in Dichpally mandal of Telangana's Nizamabad district worship Mahatma Gandhi as a deity and offer prayers to him daily. Villagers said any auspicious occasion in the village, including weddings, traditional gatherings and festivals, begins with garlanding the Gandhi statue and breaking a coconut before him. While Gandhi Jayanti is marked across the country, the villagers said they follow this age-old custom without fail every day.
Mulugu district police arrested six Maoists who were planting landmines targeting police personnel, SP Sabarish said. The arrests were made during combing operations in the Tadapala forest area of Venkatapuram mandal on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border. Those held include a deputy dalam commander, two dalam members and three militia members — two women and four men. Police seized a gun, six detonators, 12 gelatin sticks, two walkie-talkies and 20 iron spikes.
Adilabad District SP Akhil Mahajan visited the well-known Hassen Hussain shrine at Ruyyadi village in Talamadugu mandal on the occasion of Muharram. Villagers welcomed him with drum beats. The SP draped a shawl on the deities and later discussed the village's history, culture and traditions with residents at the village meeting hall. He said it was gratifying that all villagers conducted the festival together and urged people to celebrate all festivals peacefully. Tight police security has been arranged given the heavy turnout of devotees, he said.
The Husnabad municipal general body meeting was held on Friday in the office meeting hall, chaired by chairperson Akula Rajitha. Members discussed 12 items and approved development works worth Rs 25 lakh in total. Resolutions covered development of parks, a transformer third wire for the dumping yard and DRCC centre, arrangements at Yellamma tank for Ganesh immersion, purchase of mosquito repellent, and shifting pigs in the town outside it. Commissioner Rajamallaiah, vice chairperson Ayileni Anitha and councillors attended.
The Telangana State Board of Technical Education released the TG POLYCET-2025 results on Saturday for admission to polytechnic diploma courses. Gouruganti Sreeja of Miryala village in Suryapet district secured the first rank in the state. Students from the combined Nalgonda district won seven ranks within the top 100. In Nalgonda district 3,935 of 4,766 candidates passed, in Suryapet 2,432 of 2,911, and in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri 1,347 of 1,664.
Jubilee Hills police on Thursday arrested four men who allegedly dressed as transgender persons to extort money, acting on the DGP's orders. On August 21, they stopped a youth arriving in a newly bought BMW at True Black Coffee shop on Road No. 45 and demanded Rs 5,000. A YouTuber's video posted on X prompted DGP CV Anand to order a probe. Police checked 500 CCTV cameras from Jubilee Hills to Boduppal over a month and held Ramesh (40), Satyanarayana (41), Ramesh (42) and Yadagiri (44) of Boduppal, inspector Satyanarayana said.
CPM district secretariat member Kota Gopi demanded the immediate removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gnanesh Kumar and a halt to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Speaking at a press conference at Maddirala mandal centre in Suryapet district on Friday, he alleged unilateral decisions were being taken in the Commission and that SIR would affect the voting rights of crores of citizens. He said eligible voters' names were deleted in Bihar and West Bengal.
L&T has said the deadline to complete the transfer of its stake in the first phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail to the Telangana government has been extended to December 31, citing financial, structural and regulatory factors. Official documents earlier disclosed an agreement with the state government for the stake sale. Raising a large loan remains the main challenge, with the government and related agencies in talks with banks for a lower interest rate. L&T operates the metro through a special purpose vehicle.
District Collector Koya Sriharsha said power consumers should make use of the Seva Setu Abhiyan camps being held jointly by the central and state governments. He took part in a PM Suryaghar programme on Thursday at the electricity office near Jenda Chowrasta. He said consumers should do spot registration at the three-day camp to install rooftop solar panels, and directed officials to create awareness on solar benefits. NPDCL, TG Redco officials, bankers and solar vendors were available on one platform.
CPM leaders staged a dharna in front of the Jangaon collectorate protesting delays in the procurement of paddy and maize. Raising slogans, they demanded that paddy lying in threshing yards be purchased immediately and that farmers be supported. The leaders said farmers were facing severe difficulties as purchases had not begun at procurement centres, and that weather changes and rains were adding to their losses. They demanded that the delay be ended and procurement completed quickly.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari expressed dissatisfaction over district-level officials skipping the Disha committee meeting at the Hanamkonda collectorate, and over those present lacking complete information. The meeting was chaired by Warangal MP and committee chairperson Dr Kadiyam Kavya. He questioned officials on vegetable production, road safety at Dharmasagar and Unikicherla underpasses, Dharmasagar PHC and school construction. He sought visible improvement at the PHC within a month and warned that negligent officials would face action.
District Collector Bhavesh Mishra has directed medical officers to increase the number of normal deliveries at the government Maternal and Child Health hospital. He made a surprise inspection on Wednesday, examining all departments, records and registers, and spoke to patients about medical services and facilities. He said doctors and staff must be available 24 hours and that tests and medicines be given free. He also ordered that CC cameras work continuously and newborn care get special attention. Supervisor Saroj and officials Gopal Singh and Ramesh took part.
A dharna will be held in Suryapet on Friday on the call of the TUWJ-IJU state committee, seeking solutions to problems faced by journalists. State executive member Chalasani Srinivas Rao told a meeting on Thursday that a representation would be submitted at the Mahatma Gandhi statue on MG Road on Gandhi Jayanti, followed by a dharna at the new bus stand and a memorandum to the district collector. He alleged house sites, health cards and bus pass concessions were denied, with 50% charges now collected instead of one-third, and demanded a special law against attacks.
The Allu family has launched a new office named Iconza on the birth anniversary of Allu Arjun's grandfather, Allu Ramalingaiah. Allu Arjun shared the news on social media with a photo, saying a new chapter had begun. The photo featured Allu Aravind and his wife, Chiranjeevi's wife Surekha, Sirish-Nayanika, and Allu Venkatesh and his wife. Allu Arjun is currently acting in 'Raka', directed by Atlee, with Deepika Padukone as heroine. Kalanidhi Maran is producing it under Sun Pictures for release next year.
Blood donation can save many lives during emergencies, Mancherial Additional Collector (Local Bodies) P. Chandraiah said. Marking National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, a donation camp was held Thursday at the Integrated District Offices Complex in Naspur by the Indian Red Cross Society–Mancherial district blood bank centre. He said donated blood is valuable for thalassemia, sickle cell and anaemia patients and accident victims, and urged youth to come forward. Frequent blood and platelet donors were honoured with certificates and mementoes.
