Ex-gratia announced for Vikarabad bus accident victims

IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Saturday announced Rs 5 lakh each to families of those killed and Rs 1 lakh each to the seriously injured in the Vikarabad district bus accident. He visited the injured in hospital. Police said 51 people from Isnapur and Kyasaram villages in Patancheru mandal, Sangareddy district, were travelling to a funeral at Chintakunta when the bus overturned at a bend on the Ananthagiri hills road. Four died. A case was registered against the travels management and the driver.

Amit Shah, Priyanka Gandhi to visit Vikarabad district on May 11

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will leave Begumpet airport by helicopter at 10.30 am on May 11 and reach the Vikarabad helipad at 10.50 am. He will address people of the Chevella Lok Sabha constituency at the SAP College grounds from 11 am to 11.45 am, and depart at 12 noon for a campaign meeting in Wanaparthy. AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi reaches Tandur at 1.15 pm the same day, speaks at William Moon High School grounds and leaves by 2.10 pm.

Pulse polio drive in Hyderabad district from 12 to 15

Hyderabad district will hold the pulse polio programme from the 12th to the 15th of this month, Collector Harichandana Dasari said. Children aged 0-5 will be given polio drops at 2,843 centres, which will stay open from 7 am to 6 pm. The district has 5,17,238 children under five. On the 13th, 14th and 15th, 11,200 medical staff will cover households that missed the drops. Officials identified 164 high-risk areas. DMHO Dr Venkati and DMO Dr Ramulu attended the meeting.

Minister Jupally launches Tholimudda programme in Kollapur

Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao launched the Tholimudda programme at the MPDO office in Kollapur, Nagarkurnool district. Farmers stage rasta roko over power supply in Bichkunda

Farmers in Bichkunda mandal of Kamareddy district staged a dharna and rasta roko, saying irregular agricultural power supply was drying up their crops. Farmers from Sitarampalli, Manyapur, Shantapur, Rajapur and Jagannathpalli Chowrasta took part. They alleged electricity department officials did not respond to repeated calls, demanded action against negligent staff and 12 hours of uninterrupted supply. The protest was withdrawn after Bichkunda SI Gundela Raju persuaded them.

Private bus accident on Vikarabad's Ananthagiri Ghat Road, injured treated

A private bus met with an accident on Ananthagiri Ghat Road in Telangana's Vikarabad district. Passengers from Kesaram village in Patancheru mandal of Sangareddy district were travelling to Chintakunta village in Darur mandal for a funeral when the mishap occurred. Police reached the spot and began relief work. SP Sneha Mehra inspected the site and directed officials on shifting the injured and managing traffic. Cybercrime case against 65 piracy websites including iBomma

Hyderabad cybercrime police have registered a case against 65 mirror websites, including iBomma and Bappam, for illegally uploading and distributing Telugu films. The action followed a complaint by the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce. The chamber alleged the sites upload high-definition copies of new theatrical releases and OTT exclusives within hours of launch. Officials said the sites keep changing URLs through proxy domains and that about 95% of piracy sites rely on Cloudflare. Investigation to identify key operators continues.

Private travels bus gutted in Nalgonda district, 36 passengers safe

A private travels bus caught fire on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada main road on the outskirts of Pedda Kaparthy village in Chityala mandal of Telangana's Nalgonda district. The driver noticed the flames, pulled the bus to the side of the road and alerted those on board. All 36 passengers got out safely, but the entire luggage in the bus was destroyed. The fire is reportedly believed to have been caused by a short circuit.

Retired Singareni employee murdered in Kothagudem

Gubbala Rammohan Rao (60), a retired Singareni employee, was murdered in the Ganesh Temple area under Kothagudem 3 Town limits in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Police said two unidentified men entered his house on Monday (September 22) night while he was having dinner, attacked him, dragged him outside and hit him on the head with a hammer. He died on the spot due to severe bleeding. Three Town police, led by Kothagudem DSP Abdul Rehman, examined the scene with forensic and dog squad teams and are collecting CCTV evidence. The motive is yet to be established.

MLAs poaching case: Rohith Reddy's statement recorded in court

As part of the investigation into the alleged MLAs poaching case at the Moinabad farmhouse, Fifth Metropolitan Magistrate D. Devender Babu recorded the statement of Tandur MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy at the Rangareddy district court on Tuesday. Reddy is the complainant in the case, and his statement had to be recorded under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code by a magistrate outside the jurisdiction. Saroornagar police produced the MLA in court under special security.

Truck hits auto in Sangareddy district; two killed

Two people died on the spot when a truck hit a passenger auto near Mamidigi in Nyalkal mandal of Telangana's Sangareddy district. The dead are Kamala (40), an anganwadi teacher from Vaddi village, and Ambyanayak (55) of Bhojyanayak Thanda. Five others suffered serious injuries and were shifted to hospitals in Zaheerabad and Bidar. Police registered a case and began an investigation, and the bodies were sent to a government hospital for post-mortem. Police cautioned against overspeeding at blind curves.

RTC-Metro common mobility card rolled out in Hyderabad

A common mobility card allowing travel on both RTC buses and Metro trains with a single pass became available in Hyderabad on Friday. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka will launch the services at Praja Bhavan, Begumpet, at 12 noon. The daily pass costs Rs 400 and the monthly pass Rs 8,500. A refundable Rs 100 deposit applies to the card. It covers city buses within ORR limits but not Pushpak buses. The 'Mee Ticket' app offers a Rs 600 digital weekly bus pass and QR tickets.

Villagers on Friday stopped CC road works being carried out under the Bharatmala national highway bridge at Rajoli in Jogulamba Gadwal district. Karimnagar murder: accused arrested after watching YouTube videos

Police have arrested Mahesh in a murder case in Ankushapur village of Jammikunta mandal, Karimnagar district. According to Huzurabad ACP Madhavi, Mahesh had an illicit relationship with a woman, and the deceased, Mogili, had earlier been jailed after a complaint by them. After his release Mogili continued to insult them, following which Mahesh watched YouTube videos, planned the killing and struck Mogili on the head with an iron rod. The rod, phone and bike were seized.

Two Warangal-area photographers win national competition awards

Shravan Tadanla of Hanamkonda and Vanam Sharath Babu of Shambhunipet in Warangal district received awards in the National Photography Competition-2026. Shravan's photograph was chosen 'Best Image of the Year', while Sharath Babu's entry won the 'Excellence Award of the Year 2026'. Held on the theme 'My India: 80 Years of Democracy and Freedom', the contest drew 352 photographs from 182 photographers across 16 states, with 60 awards selected. Vice-Chancellor Prof K. Gangadhara Rao presented the awards on October 2 at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur.
