Giravena Shyam of Korapalli village in Jammikunta mandal of Karimnagar district was seriously injured in a road accident near FCI in Jammikunta town and died recently while undergoing hospital treatment. PMK Foundation founder Palle Prabhakar Goud conveyed condolences to the family. On his instructions, foundation organisers handed over Rs 10,000 in financial aid to the deceased's family at Korapalli. They said they would continue to support the family. Palle Ravi Goud, Mogu Debba Goudu and association president Ranjit Goud participated.
Former minister and MLA Harish Rao has called for grand celebrations marking ten years of Siddipet district. A preparatory meeting was held at the Siddipet camp office with employee and teacher associations, doctors, advocates and local notables. He said the district demand, a slogan since 1983, was fulfilled by KCR as Chief Minister on October 11, 2016. With the tenth year falling on October 11, 2026, he proposed a souvenir book, a documentary and discussion forums. MLC Desapathi Srinivas and former MLC Farooq Hussain attended.
A fire broke out on Sunday in Unit-3 of the under-construction Yadadri Ultra Mega Thermal Power Station at Damaracherla in Nalgonda district. Officials preliminarily assessed that a lubrication oil leak in the turbine-driven boiler feed pump area caused the blaze. Control cables and some key valves were burnt. Plant staff and on-site firefighting equipment brought the fire under control. Boilers and main turbines were undamaged and no one was injured. Telangana Genco officials inspected the site and ordered an internal inquiry.
An IndiGo aircraft, flight 6E352, flying from Pune to Hyderabad was struck by a bird while in the air. The pilot brought the situation under control and landed the plane safely at Shamshabad Airport, with no harm to passengers or crew. Experts who inspected the aircraft after landing found a dent on its front portion, preliminarily attributed to the bird strike. Officials said the pilot's prompt action averted a major accident. A Chandigarh service was cancelled due to technical problems.
Hundreds protested at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park in Hyderabad, demanding cancellation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. TPF, TVRF, NAPM, SIU, CJP and other civil society organisations jointly held the demonstration. Actor and social activist Prakash Raj attended and addressed the gathering. Demands included scrapping SIR, the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, and repeal of the 2023 law on appointment, service conditions and tenure of election commissioners. Telangana's final roll is due on November 9. Protesters said they would hold a Delhi demonstration on October 10 if demands were unmet.
Uppal MLA Bandari Laxma Reddy laid foundation stones for development works worth about Rs 1 crore in the Nacharam and HMT Nagar divisions. Allocations include Rs 9 lakh for underground drainage in Sainagar Colony, Rs 13 lakh for a drinking water pipeline in Sri Raghavendranagar, Rs 33.8 lakh for a CC road in Koundinyanagar, Rs 47.8 lakh for remaining CC roads in Bhavaninagar and about Rs 20 lakh for a CC road behind Shiva Nursing Home in Raghavendranagar. The MLA said infrastructure is being taken up in phases.
East Zone Task Force and Afzalgunj police arrested two interstate ganja smugglers transporting cannabis from Odisha to Hyderabad, seizing 11 kg of ganja and two cellphones. Police said Aman Hantati (22) and Raiman Goote (22), from Malkangiri in Odisha, worked as centring labourers in the city and turned to ganja supply as their income was insufficient. They struck a Rs 12,500 deal with Malkangiri seller Jino, collected the consignment at Bhadrachalam bus stand and travelled by private bus. They were held near JK Nursery while waiting to hand it to Vinod Singh of Dhulpet.
Vikarabad district has recorded 474.4 mm of rainfall as on October 4 against a normal of 671.6 mm for the period, a shortfall of 197.2 mm. The district average deficit stands at 29 percent. Of 20 mandals, 15 are in deficit and four recorded normal rainfall. Bantwaram has a 55 percent deficit and Peddemul 53 percent. Bomraspet alone received 658.9 mm against a normal of 522.8 mm, 26 percent excess. No mandal recorded rain on October 4. Farmers are anxious.
ABVP student union leaders protested outside MIMS Junior College in Mancherial on Sunday, alleging that Intermediate classes were being held on holidays in violation of government rules, and complained to the District Intermediate Officer. The DIO conducted a surprise inspection and officials found special classes and examinations under way. The DIO said warnings barring holiday classes in private junior colleges had already been issued several times by email and social media. A full report will be submitted to Intermediate Board higher officials on Monday, with strict action against the management.
An Omni van lost control on the Karimnagar-Warangal national highway, ran into a crop field and overturned, injuring the driver and eight others. The accident occurred on Sunday on the newly built highway on the outskirts of Peddapapayyapalli village in Huzurabad mandal. Labourers from the Kotthuru Jenda area of Hanumakonda district were travelling towards Karimnagar for work when a tyre burst, according to information available. 108 staff shifted the injured to Huzurabad government hospital; five in critical condition were moved to Warangal.
BJP national general secretary Bandi Sanjay Kumar is contesting the Karimnagar assembly constituency in the Telangana elections 2023. Gangula Kamalakar is the BRS candidate for the seat, while the Congress candidate is yet to be announced. Sanjay, who began his political career as a councillor, lost the 2018 assembly election to Kamalakar by 14,974 votes. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls he defeated BRS candidate B. Vinod Kumar by a margin of 89,508 votes.
A free mega medical camp was held at Kadem mandal headquarters in Nirmal district under the aegis of Swapna Multi Super Speciality Hospital. Experienced doctors conducted free tests including ECG, 2D Echo and various advanced orthopedic examinations, and offered medical advice to patients. People turned up in large numbers from Kadem and Dasturabad mandals. Kadem Sub-Inspector Sai visited the camp and underwent a health check himself. He praised the hospital management and medical team, saying such free service programmes for rural people were commendable.

Nominations will be accepted till the 21st of this month, with scrutiny on the 22nd and withdrawal on the 24th. Polling is set for November 11 and counting for November 14. The by-election follows the death of MLA Maganti Gopinath. BRS has fielded his wife Sunita and Congress Naveen Kumar Yadav; the BJP candidate will be named Sunday. The segment has 3,98,982 voters and 407 polling stations.
Bibinagar police and SOT teams jointly seized 27 kg of mephedrone worth Rs 54 crore and about 40 kg of acetone liquid in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. During vehicle checks on the outskirts of Kondamadugu on Saturday, a car with Maharashtra registration was stopped and seized. SP Akshansh Yadav said on Sunday that Chetan Madhukar Mefram, Mujamal Haq, Upadrashta Ramanamurthy and Akash Ashok Gawande were arrested, while four others are absconding.
Four people died when a private bus overturned on Ananthagiri Ghat Road in Telangana's Vikarabad district on Saturday morning. Four others are in critical condition and 20 suffered serious injuries. The bus was carrying 51 people from Kyasaram in Patancheru mandal, Sangareddy district, to a funeral at Chintakunta in Dharur mandal. The driver fled. Authorities announced Rs 5 lakh for each deceased family and Rs 1 lakh for the injured. CM Revanth Reddy and KTR expressed shock.
Four members of a family died when a car went out of control and fell into a roadside well on the outskirts of Appanapalli village in Dubbaka mandal, Siddipet district, on Wednesday night. Raju of Balavanthapur, his wife Bhagya, son Niyansh and daughter Sanvika were returning after attending a function in Siddipet. When they did not reach home, relatives informed police, who traced the car using Raju's mobile signal. Police confirmed all four died on the spot, shifted the bodies for post-mortem and registered a case.
MLA Janampally Anirudh Reddy on Wednesday inaugurated newly constructed Indiramma houses at Singammaguda Thanda in Rajapur mandal of Jadcherla constituency, Mahabubnagar district. He said providing own houses to the poor is the government's objective. Extending wishes to the beneficiaries, he said development works in the constituency would continue at a fast pace. Local leaders took part in the programme.
Police conducted a cordon and search operation in the Kunta area of Bhainsa town on Wednesday morning. Additional SP Kiran Prabhakar Kare said the exercise aimed to curb anti-social activities and make towns and villages crime-free. About 80 two-wheelers, nine three-wheelers and two cars without proper documents were seized, along with banned gutka and seven cheap liquor bottles. He warned that those without masks in public face action under Sections 51-60 of the Disaster Management Act and IPC 188. CIs, SIs and about 150 constables participated.
A fire broke out on Wednesday in the premises of the Kethepally police station in Nalgonda district. Flames suddenly erupted among vehicles seized in various cases and kept at the station, and within moments spread to other vehicles parked alongside, causing alarm in the area. Fire personnel reached the spot with a fire engine after being informed and were working to bring the blaze under control. The cause of the fire and the extent of property loss are yet to be ascertained.
