Vijay Deverakonda's film 'Ranabali' is set for a theatrical release on October 16, the film team said. The makers announced that the trailer will be released on October 8 at 6.03 pm, with a runtime of 3 minutes 47 seconds. A pre-release event is scheduled in Anantapur on October 12. The film is directed by Rahul Sankrityan. Promotions so far include songs, a docu-series, Vijay-Rashmika combo interviews and a Hindi podcast.
As part of World Space Week, being held from October 4 to 10 under Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR), Sriharikota, ISRO will conduct an awareness programme on October 9 at Government R.P.B.S. ZP Boys High School in Srikalahasti. Scientists Srinivasa Reddy, Mohan Rao, Srinivasa Rao and Muneer inspected the arrangements on Tuesday. They said the week is being organised in five states and that ISRO-built rockets and space models will be displayed, urging students and youth to attend in large numbers.
Pattadar passbooks bearing the royal seal were distributed in Neggipudi and Koyyetipadu villages of Penumantra mandal on Wednesday under the state government's 'Mee Bhoomi–Mee Hakku' programme. Achanta MLA, Assembly privileges committee chairman and former minister Pitani Satyanarayana handed over the passbooks. In Neggipudi, 274 farmers received them, while in Koyyetipadu 480 of 496 farmers did. He said the coalition government was prioritising farmer welfare and ensuring transparent land records.
A court in Tirupati has ordered community service for a man in a drunk driving case. The II Special Judicial Magistrate of II Class court issued the order on October 7 after A. Munikrishna (34) of Venkatagopalapuram in Renigunta mandal admitted the offence. He must clean and maintain areas around Renigunta urban police station and the government hospital from October 7 to 16, under the Renigunta SHO's supervision, and submit a photo compliance report by 10:30 am on October 17.
About 300 Muslim minority families from Nizam Vali Colony in Kadiri town of Sri Sathya Sai district quit the YSRCP and joined the Telugu Desam Party. The families belong to the old 15th ward, now the 18th ward. At an event held at the MLA's office under ward incharge Hyder Ali, MLA Kandikunta Venkata Prasad draped them with party scarves. He said he would ensure respect for all who joined and work to resolve their problems.

People wishing to serve devotees at Tirumala as Srivari Sevaks must book online in advance through the TTD website ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in. Applicants aged 18 to 60 get a week-long service slot, and those who have served once are given another chance after 90 days. The quota is released online between the 26th and 28th of each month. Sevaks work at 39 locations, stay free at the Rs 120-crore Srivari Seva Sadan, and get darshan and a laddu on the final day. So far 16 lakh sevaks have been trained.
All India Human Rights members visited Jagananna Colony in the Kalvakatta area of Porumamilla, YSR Kadapa district, and heard residents' grievances. Residents said 70 to 80 houses were sanctioned but only 12 families live there now. They alleged some people from adjoining Rajiv Nagar turn the valve, cutting their water supply, and that repeated complaints to the panchayat secretary went unresolved. Without street lights, they face scorpions and snakes at night. State secretary Phani Rao, K. Praveen Babu and Srinu sought drinking water and street lights, warning of a collectorate complaint.
Residents in towns across Kakinada district say vacant plots left unused for years collect rainwater and grow weeds, becoming breeding grounds for mosquitoes and shelter for snakes. About 3,000 vacant plots have been identified in Kakinada, but taxes are paid on only 1,735, yielding Rs 5 crore in revenue. Gollaprolu has 326 plots, Pithapuram 1,727 and Gandepalli 150. Tuni has 1,750 private and 40 government plots. Officials said notices cannot be served as some owners are untraceable.
A woman died in a road accident at Nandipadu in Duttaluru mandal of Nellore district on Wednesday. Pullamma (55), a resident of Sriram Nagar Colony in Nandipadu, was crossing the road when an unidentified vehicle came at speed and hit her. The impact threw her into trees beside the road and she died on the spot with severe injuries. The vehicle reportedly did not stop. Duttaluru SI Subhashini registered a case and is investigating to trace it.

Guntur district recorded 145 Covid-19 positive cases in the past 24 hours, district medical and health department officials said in a statement on Saturday evening. Of the 76,895 total positive cases registered in the district so far, 75,789 patients have been discharged, while 431 are currently undergoing treatment. Officials advised people to remain cautious about the coronavirus and to step out of their homes only when necessary.
The TTD will release on Wednesday the quota of Rs 300 special entry darshan tickets for the Navaratri Brahmotsavam of Tirumala Srivari. Rs 300 darshan tickets for October had already been released online, but the quota for October 12, 13, 14, 18, 19 and 20 was kept on hold. With the Brahmotsavam approaching, the TTD is set to release the quota for these dates online at 10 am on October 7.
Dalit and tribal women staged a protest by climbing a water tank at Antlapalem village under K. Naidupalem panchayat in Rolugunta mandal of Anakapalli district. They said fluoride-affected groundwater was causing joint pains and other chronic ailments. The village has about 200 families, including 40 SC and ST families with 150 people in a separate colony. Residents said a 20,000-litre tank was built three years ago with Rs 22 lakh, and demanded Varaha river water at Janakirampuram be linked to it. They appealed to the Deputy Chief Minister.
A workshop seeking UNESCO recognition for Kuchipudi dance began on Tuesday at Kuchipudi in Movva mandal of Krishna district. It was organised jointly by Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, the district administration and the AP tourism, culture and youth development departments. Pamarru MLA Varla Kumar Raja lit the lamp to open it, saying Sri Siddhendra Yogi gave the dance a systematic form 400 years ago. Collector D.K. Balaji said action towards recognition was being expedited. A Kuchipudi history book by Dr Chinta Ravi Balakrishna was released.
A 75-foot cutout of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was unveiled in Tirupati on Tuesday. A 'Modi Jatara' programme, planned to run for 75 hours with the aim of a Guinness Book of World Records entry, was launched at the SV Tarakarama grounds in the city. A father in Kurnool reprimanded his 17-year-old son, who had brought home jewellery stolen with a friend, and handed the valuables to the Fourth Town police station. DSP Raghavendra and CI Vikram Simha said Shaik Faizan, a construction worker from Habib Mubaraknagar in Budhawarapeta, and the minor stole 20 tolas of gold and 300 grams of silver in daylight on the 3rd from manager Raghavendra's house at Seetharama Venture, Kodumur Road. Both were arrested.
The Journalist Association of Andhra Pradesh (JAP) held the executive meeting of its Tirupati and Chittoor district units on Tuesday at the JAP office near the old checkpost in Renigunta. State president Raviteja and state secretary Lakshmipathi took part and discussed union activities, journalists' problems and future action. They said the association works continuously for journalists' welfare and resolution of professional issues. Rights, welfare schemes, accreditation and safety were also discussed.
