Pamarru MLA Varla Kumar Raja lit the lamp to open it, saying Sri Siddhendra Yogi gave the dance a systematic form 400 years ago. Collector D.K. Balaji said action towards recognition was being expedited. A Kuchipudi history book by Dr Chinta Ravi Balakrishna was released.
The Krishna District Youth Festival 2026 was held on 06.10.2026 at A.G & S.G Siddhartha Arts & Science Degree College, Vuyyuru. Organised by STEP, KRISHI and the District Youth Welfare Department, the contests drew college students from across the district in five items: folk dance, folk song, street play, painting and poetry writing. District Employment Officer Ch. Madhu Bhushan Rao attended as chief guest. Winners received certificates and mementoes.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu attended a public meeting at Pamidimukkala in Krishna district as part of May Day and 'Pedala Sevalo' programmes. He said leaders who stay among people and work to resolve their problems would get priority, and MLAs who do not perform would not get a chance to contest again in the next elections. He alleged opposition parties were indulging in destructive politics and said Andhra Pradesh was in a redevelopment phase under the NDA. Earlier, he visited an anganwadi centre and fed children milk and fruit.
Krishna District Collector DK Balaji said a job mela will be held on Saturday, August 30, at 9 am at ANR College in Gudivada under the state skill development agency to provide employment opportunities to unemployed youth. Companies including Eftronics Systems, Hetero Labs, Zoya Lukkas Jewellery, Big C Mobiles, Quess Corp, MedPlus and Rapido will take part. Candidates aged 18-35 with 10th, Intermediate, ITI, Diploma, Degree, BTech or B.Pharmacy qualifications are eligible. Prior registration at naipunyam.ap.gov.in is required.
Police conducting vehicle checks on the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam main road in Gudur mandal of Krishna district signalled two youths on a motorcycle to stop, but they sped away. During the chase the bike went out of control at the Challapalli-Pedda Kallepalli junction and hit police barricades, throwing both riders onto the road. One, with a leg injury, was shifted to a government hospital; the other was detained. A search yielded about 12 kg of ganja, estimated to be worth lakhs. A case has been registered.
Yadunandan, principal of the Navodaya school at Veleru village in Bapulapadu mandal of Krishna district, died in a road accident. A tipper lorry hit the car he was travelling in near Veleru village on Sunday, and he died on the spot. Motorists passing on the same road informed police, who reached the site and shifted the body to the Bandar district government hospital for post-mortem. Police registered a case, investigated and arrested the tipper driver.

South Coast Railway has decided to run two special trains between Machilipatnam and Shivamogga Town for the festival rush. Train 07217 will leave Machilipatnam at 3.55 pm on Sunday, August 30, reaching Shivamogga Town at 3 pm the next day. Train 07218 will leave Shivamogga at 5.40 pm on September 2, arriving at 3.55 pm the following day. Halts include Gudivada, Vijayawada, Guntur, Narasaraopet, Donakonda, Markapuram, Kambham, Nandyal, Betamcherla, Dhone, Guntakal, Anantapur, Dharmavaram, Sri Sathya Sai Prasanthi Nilayam and Hindupur. Officials said timings may change.
