Srisailam MLA Budda Rajasekhar Reddy, trust board member Ramesh Naidu, EO Srinivasa Rao, priests, Vedic scholars and officials invited Chief Minister Chandrababu to attend. The invitation card was handed over at the MLA's camp office. Officials presented the CM a portrait of the deities and prasadam, and priests offered Vedic blessings. The CM enquired about Brahmotsavam arrangements.
Nandikotkur MLA Githa Jayasurya took part in a ward visit programme at C.S.I. Palem in Nandikotkur municipality. He met residents of the ward and enquired about their problems. He examined issues relating to drinking water, roads, drainage, sanitation and basic infrastructure. He directed that the problems raised by people be brought to the notice of concerned officials and steps taken to resolve them. He said the government is working to provide necessary infrastructure and that efforts for the town's development will continue. Municipal Commissioner Venkatarami Reddy, ward and town leaders and officials attended.
Two men were arrested in Kottalacheruvu Gudem of Atmakur mandal, Nandyal district, for tying a nine-year-old girl to a pole over suspicion of theft. Atmakur DSP Ramanji Naik said the girl went to a shop on August 17 to buy snacks, after which a cash box went missing. Shop owner Nenavath Rajunaik and his brother-in-law Mallu Naik allegedly held her from 4 pm to 7 pm and circulated a video. Police seized a cellphone and sent both to remand following her mother's complaint.
Police said Pulicherla Venkateswarlu attempted to attack his wife with an arrow amid family disputes at Bairluti Gudem in Atmakur mandal of Nandyal district. Her mother, Gulla Kotamma, who intervened, was seriously injured after the arrow struck her leg. She was taken to a nearby hospital and then shifted to Kurnool government hospital as her condition was critical. Police said Venkateswarlu came home intoxicated and quarrelled with family members; his two-month-old son recently died of illness. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
Tourism is not merely visiting a place but also learning its history, uniqueness, significance and religious background, Joint Collector Suraj Dhanunjay said. World Tourism Day was observed on Sunday at the PGRS hall of the Nandyal collectorate. Prizes were given to winners of essay-writing, painting and short-film competitions. District Tourism Officer Sunil Kanna said 28 well-known tourist sites have been identified in the district, and that Belum Caves in Kolimigundla mandal extend about 2.49 km.
A job fair will be held on September 3 at the Government Degree College in Nandyal town under the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development body. College principal Dr Shashikala gave the details in a statement. Skill Development Officer Pratap Reddy said representatives of eight prominent companies would take part. Candidates who have completed Class 10, Intermediate, ITI, diploma, degree, B.Tech or PG can participate. He asked eligible candidates to attend.
A six-year-old girl, Pranavi, who went missing while playing outside her home in YSR Nagar, Nandyal, on Sunday, was found safe, asleep in a sorghum field near the colony. Her mother Kalyani called Dial-100 at 9 pm. Under SP Sunil Sheoran's supervision, 200 police personnel, including two ASPs, DSPs, CIs and SIs, searched overnight using drone cameras, sniffer dogs and CCTV footage. The girl was handed over to her mother.
