Katasani attends child Devansh's birthday celebrations in Kalluru

Birthday celebrations for Devansh, grandson of Kurnool district YSRCP ST Cell secretary Chenchu Venkataswamy, were held at the family residence in Kalluru. YSRCP Nandyal district president and former Panyam MLA Katasani Ramabhupal Reddy attended as chief guest and blessed the child, wishing him good health and happiness, and spoke with family members. Kalluru Urban former corporators Maitapu Narasimhulu (33rd ward), Sana Srinivasulu (32nd ward) and Narayana Reddy (28th ward), along with YSRCP leaders and workers, took part.

Kurnool father hands son's stolen jewellery to police

A father in Kurnool reprimanded his 17-year-old son, who had brought home jewellery stolen with a friend, and handed the valuables to the Fourth Town police station. DSP Raghavendra and CI Vikram Simha said Shaik Faizan, a construction worker from Habib Mubaraknagar in Budhawarapeta, and the minor stole 20 tolas of gold and 300 grams of silver in daylight on the 3rd from manager Raghavendra's house at Seetharama Venture, Kodumur Road. Both were arrested.

ASHA workers petition Kurnool MP for higher wages

ASHA workers in Kodumur demanded a minimum wage of Rs 26,000. Led by CITU mandal president GP Veeranna, they submitted a petition listing 11 demands to Kurnool MP Bastipati Nagaraju. They sought regularisation of ASHA workers, all categories of leave, priority for trained ANMs and GNMs when permanent posts are filled, and an increase in the number of ASHA workers in line with the growing population. The workers said the MP assured them he would take the issues to the government's notice.

41st AP State Junior Athletics Championship opens in Adoni

The 41st AP State Junior Inter-District Athletics Championship-2026 began in Adoni on Friday, the first time the event is being held in the town. The three-day meet will run from October 2 to 4 at the Arts and Science College grounds under district athletics chairman Maruti Naidu. DSP Venkataramana and RDO Aruna Devi attended as chief guests and saluted the national flag. Athletes from various districts took part in the march past.

Kunigiri Neelakanta appointed BJP Kurnool district president

Kunigiri Neelakanta of Adoni town has been appointed BJP district president for Kurnool. The selection of new district presidents was held on Friday under state president Purandeswari. Neelakanta served as BJYM Kurnool district president in 2014 and as BJYM state general secretary in 2015. He was BJP state secretary twice, in 2017 and 2019. In the 2019 general elections he contested the Adoni assembly seat as the BJP candidate. Party cadres welcomed the appointment.

Medical camp screens sanitation staff in Adoni municipality

A medical camp was held at the Adoni municipal office on Wednesday, where sanitation staff underwent health examinations. Kits were distributed to the workers after the check-ups. The municipal commissioner said full-body medical examinations were conducted for staff working in the drainage and septic tank sections. He said the camp was organised keeping the health of the sanitation workers in view.

CPM demands schedule change for Kurnool-Machilipatnam train

The CPM district committee thanked South Central Railway for restoring the Kurnool-Machilipatnam train but said running it only three days a week and a journey time of about 13 hours were unsuitable, district secretary D. Gousdesai said. It demanded the train be made regular, leaving Kurnool daily at 7 pm and reaching Vijayawada at 6 am. CPM also sought extension of the Kacheguda-Guntur train to Vijayawada, warning of agitation otherwise.

Palle Panduga works launched in Alur, anganwadi centre inspected

TDP in-charge Vaikuntam Jyothi launched development works in Alur of Kurnool district as part of Palle Panduga 3.0, performing bhoomi puja for a CC road in Kota Street. She thanked Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for sanctioning Rs 21 crore of works to Alur constituency.
