Unused vacant plots causing hardship in Kakinada district

Residents in towns across Kakinada district say vacant plots left unused for years collect rainwater and grow weeds, becoming breeding grounds for mosquitoes and shelter for snakes. About 3,000 vacant plots have been identified in Kakinada, but taxes are paid on only 1,735, yielding Rs 5 crore in revenue. Gollaprolu has 326 plots, Pithapuram 1,727 and Gandepalli 150. Tuni has 1,750 private and 40 government plots. Officials said notices cannot be served as some owners are untraceable.

Kakinada police bust cyber gang using mule bank accounts

Kakinada district police have busted a cyber gang that routed crores of rupees through mule bank accounts, SP Bindu Madhav said on Friday. Putta Ram, based in Dubai, paid Rs 30,000 per account to associates who opened accounts in the names of unsuspecting people. The case surfaced after Korra Lovakrishna found Rs 50 lakh in transactions in his account. Police identified 48 mule accounts and Rs 8.80 crore in suspect transactions. Satish and Prasad were arrested; Uday Kiran is absconding.

AM Green to export green ammonia from Kakinada to Germany

Hyderabad-based AM Green Ammonia has won the Asia segment of the German government-backed H2Global auction, signing a ten-year contract to supply renewable ammonia worth at least Rs 5,500 crore. Hintco, H2Global's trading arm, will purchase the output. AM Green is converting a natural gas-based ammonia and urea complex at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh into a green ammonia plant compliant with European Union rules. The company said first supplies to Germany begin in 2029, shipped through Kakinada Port.

Three brothel houses sealed in Peddapuram

Police acted against brothels operating at Dargacenter in Peddapuram town. On Monday morning, Tahsildar Jitendra, CI Abdul Nabi and SI Ravuri Murali Mohan, along with staff, locked, sealed and seized three houses belonging to Simma Sanyasi Rao, Simma Bapanamma and Dukka Nagamani. After those caught in April raids were produced before the RDO, divisional magistrate J.S. Rama Rao had ordered notices to the owners. CI Nabi said raids and seizures would continue.

Malti Akhilesh of Kutukudumilli in U. Kothapalli mandal, Kakinada district, has been offered Rs 1.06 crore a year as an AI engineer by Canadian firm Fabrantic AI. At campus placements held in May this year at Aditya University, Surampalem, 243 students appeared and only two were selected. He received the offer letter on June 20 and works from home. Kakinada district recorded an average 117.6 mm of rainfall in two days under the influence of a deep depression, District Collector Harendra Prasad said. Preliminary estimates put crop damage at 1,885 hectares, and trees fell on roads at 15 locations.
