Victims Gadiparti Subbarao and Bharathi Devi had gone to their daughter's house at Ganapavaram in Nadendla mandal on the 4th of this month. On returning Sunday afternoon, they found the locks broken and the almirah open. One Town police were informed. CI Firoz inspected the house and a clues team collected samples. A case has been registered and investigation is on, the CI said.
Contract employees of the AP Medical and Health Contract Employees JAC, Palnadu and Vinukonda team, held a candlelight rally in Vinukonda urging the government to resolve pending issues. Their demands include regularisation, implementation of 100 percent gross salary, Rs 50 lakh ex gratia, paid medical leave, health cards and the option of mutual transfers. Leaders warned of a large-scale agitation otherwise. APNGO and other unions voiced support. JAC state vice chairman P. Sivaramakrishna, district chairman Nagaraju Kumari, Shanta Raju, joint secretary Koteswara Naik and state coordinator Satish took part.
Awaaz Committee leaders on Wednesday submitted a petition to MLA Prattipati Pullarao seeking the immediate resumption of stalled construction of a minority girls' gurukul school at Tatapudi village in Chilakaluripet. They said the Rs 18 crore project, for which the foundation stone was laid between 2014 and 2019, had come to a halt, leaving Muslim girls deprived of education. The MLA said the matter had already been brought to Chief Minister Chandrababu's notice and assured that works would begin and be completed soon. Awaaz district president Sheikh Fairoz and CPM leader Venkateswarlu took part.
Government Chief Whip and Vinukonda MLA GV Anjaneyulu said RTC services are being extended to rural areas so that transport problems do not hinder students' education. He launched a new bus service from Vinukonda to Nujendla, running via Jangalapalli, Madamanchipadu, Tripurapuram, Gollapalem, Obanapalem, Reddipalem and Kammavaripalem. Timings have been set to suit school hours, benefiting students of Nujendla Model School and KGBV. He said 32 new buses were given to the Vinukonda depot after the coalition government took office, and electric buses are being prioritised.
