In Neggipudi, 274 farmers received them, while in Koyyetipadu 480 of 496 farmers did. He said the coalition government was prioritising farmer welfare and ensuring transparent land records.
Heavy rain lashed Bhimavaram in West Godavari district from the early hours of Monday. Several parts of the town were inundated as a result. Rainwater collected on main roads, leaving motorists struggling. The premises in front of the local railway station resembled a canal, causing difficulties for passengers arriving at the station. Normal life in the town was disrupted by the downpour. No official rainfall or damage details are available.
The Association of Integrity Christian Council (AICC) has appointed Reverend Kakarla Rajendra Prasad (Pandanna) of Tanuku as its West Godavari district president and Kreestudasu as district secretary. They received appointment letters from international president Gerahanoku at the AICC national-level core committee meeting held in Vijayawada on Wednesday. Representatives from all districts in the state attended and shared views on issues facing Christians. Pandanna said AICC would support Christians facing difficulties in the district and form committees in every mandal.
A theft at the Sri Jain Jewel Park gold shop in Narsapuram town of West Godavari district has come to light. Police said Shaik Lal Saheb, who worked there as a clerk for the past 20 years, stole 405 grams of gold in instalments to repay debts incurred on the online Fairplay betting app. Acting on the owner's complaint and orders of SP Adnan Nayeem Asmi, Narsapuram town police cracked the case in 12 hours, detained the accused and recovered ornaments worth ₹52.65 lakh.
The Health, Medical and Family Welfare Department has invited applications for 237 para medical staff posts on contract/outsourcing basis in government hospitals under the West Godavari District Medical and Health Office. Depending on the post, candidates need Tenth class, ITI, Intermediate, Diploma, BSc, D/B Pharmacy or BE/BTech qualifications. Age must be 18–42 years as on July 1, 2022. Applications must reach the DMHO office in Eluru by post before August 20, 2022. Fee is Rs 250 for general candidates; SC/BC/differently abled are exempt. Salary ranges from Rs 15,000 to Rs 37,640 a month, with selection based on academic merit, experience and reservation.
BJP Mahila Morcha organised an Anganwadi Utsavam at Telaga Kalyana Mandapam in Narasapuram, West Godavari district. Anganwadi workers and ASHA didis were felicitated on the occasion. The programme included discussions on the health and nutrition of children, pregnant women and nursing mothers, and on preventing malnutrition. Speakers said nutrition is important for the healthy growth of children. Union Minister Srinivas Varma, Rajya Sabha member Paga Satyanarayana and MLA and government whip Bommidi Nayakar attended and commended the workers' services.
Five base camps have been set up in the Papikondalu sanctuary with 25 personnel deployed for forest and wildlife protection. Spread over 1,012.86 sq km across the two Godavari districts and erstwhile Khammam district, the 1,01,200-hectare forest was declared a national park by the Centre in 2008. Officials said smuggling has fallen due to day-and-night patrolling with sticks and knives. Staff, hired through outsourcing agencies, get Rs 10,000 a month including food costs.
Andhra Pradesh Assembly Deputy Speaker Kanumuru Raghurama Krishnam Raju and District Collector Chadalavada Nagarani on Tuesday laid foundation stones for two BT road works at Gollalakoderu village in Palakoderu mandal, West Godavari, funded under Viksit Bharat G-RAM G. One stretch of one kilometre from the SP office to the ISKCON temple costs Rs 32 lakh, while a 460-metre road from Mudunuri China Subbaraju field to the existing CC road costs Rs 16 lakh. Priority will go to BT, CC roads and gokulams under Palle Pandaga 3.0.
A 62-foot Ganesh idol installed at Relli Peta in Palakollu as part of the Ganesh festival was immersed, followed by a large-scale anna samaradhana, or community feeding. Local devotees participated in large numbers. In the laddu auction held on the occasion, the deity's first laddu was secured by a devotee, Gubbala Rakesh, for Rs 99,999. The second laddu fetched Rs 86,116, while Singampalli Brothers won the third for Rs 48,000.
Thalli Bidda Express vehicles, meant to take mothers who deliver in government hospitals and their newborns home safely, have reached the district. The state medical and health minister flagged off 300 vehicles at Narasaraopet on Tuesday. Of the 14 allotted to the district, ten have arrived. They have six airbags, footrests, GPS tracking and an SOS button. The existing 14 vehicles are run by Aurobindo, while the new ones will be managed by Vidyaveda Foundation. MLA Arimilli Radhakrishna launched five vehicles at Tanuku.
The non-cooperation agitation launched at Iragavaram mandal headquarters on the call of the state VRA associations' Joint Action Committee entered its tenth day on Friday. VRAs submitted a petition at the NTR statue at the main Iragavaram junction. Association honorary president Eeda Ramarao demanded a pay scale matching rising prices of essential commodities. Vice-president Bojja Prasanna Kumari alleged the government was ignoring the ten-day strike, and sought promotions and regularisation of nominees.
