Kolkata-based Shree Cement Limited has expressed interest in setting up an integrated cement plant at Jammalamadugu in YSR Kadapa district with an investment of Rs 7,107 crore. It proposed investing in two phases, creating 1,102 jobs, and sought 452 acres for a unit producing 6 million tonnes annually. The firm already holds limestone mines over 373 hectares near Dommaranandyala. SIPC, meeting Monday under Chief Secretary Sai Prasad, discussed proposals worth Rs 23,994 crore and 11,289 jobs, deciding to send them to SIPB.
MLA Nandyala Varadarajula Reddy distributed house sanction letters to 83 beneficiaries at a programme held on Wednesday in Sambayyagari Street, Proddatur. He said 401 houses have been sanctioned in the town so far across three phases. Each house receives Rs 2.50 lakh in combined assistance from the central and state governments, he said. Eligible people owning house plots were asked to apply under phase two of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban. Housing PD Rajaratnam, EE Ramana Reddy and Municipal Commissioner Vishwanath attended.
YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will tour the Pulivendula constituency on Tuesday and Wednesday. He will reach Pulivendula at 11.30 am on Tuesday and hold a Praja Darbar at the Bhakarapuram camp office to receive petitions from people, staying there overnight. On Wednesday he will reach Idupulapaya at 7.30 am and take part in special prayers at YSR Ghat, paying tributes on the birth anniversary of late Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, before returning.
