Two unidentified men attempted a theft at the Chennakesava Swamy temple in Sompalem of Mulakalacheruvu mandal in Annamayya district. The intruders threw chilli powder on the security staff after midnight on Sunday and entered the temple, according to the report. Villagers who heard the noise reached the temple, after which the two men fled from the spot. Details of the incident were reported on October 5.
YSRCP state youth joint secretary Kishore Reddy paid a courtesy call on Rajampet MP Midhun Reddy at the YSRCP party office in Madanapalle. They discussed problems in Thamballapalle constituency, strengthening the party and the upcoming local body elections. Kishore Reddy said he brought the constituency people's problems to the MP's notice. Kadapa district principal judge R Ram Gopal visited the Rayachoti court complex at 11 am on Sunday to examine a proposal to demolish the old court buildings and construct new ones at the same site. He said the buildings were not dilapidated enough for demolition and that minor repairs could keep three courts functioning there for another 20 years. He asked the Roads and Buildings Department DE who had certified the building unusable, and advised lawyers to submit a representation with full details.
Yashoda, 38, was beaten to death with a stick by her husband Ramana at Marella in KV Palli mandal of Annamayya district. The couple, married 22 years ago, have two children. Yashoda had gone to Kuwait for work three years ago and returned to her village a month ago, and was trying to go back. Police suspect Ramana, who opposed the move and doubted her conduct, hit her on the head while she slept. He surrendered at the police station and was arrested.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Friday laid the foundation stone at Madanapalle in Annamayya district for a Global Horticulture Hub to be developed at Rs 1 lakh crore and an Indian School of Agriculture being set up with Reliance support. Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, Anant Ambani and Minister Nara Lokesh attended. Naidu said Rs 40,000 crore would come with central support and Rs 60,000 crore from private investment, covering 5,860 villages in 201 clusters and six lakh additional acres.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone at Madanapalle for the Indian School of Agriculture (ISA), described as the first such institution in the country. Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Anant Ambani attended. Ambani said he should be considered a son of Andhra and that Reliance would extend all support to ISA. Built on about 100 acres with Reliance as partner, it will train in digital agriculture, precision farming, smart irrigation and market intelligence. Birthday celebrations were held at Sangeetha Mobiles shop in Madanapalle under the leadership of youth leader Mustak and VIP Sunil. The non-cooperation strike by Village Revenue Assistants (VRAs) has entered its seventh day. As part of the state-wide agitation, VRAs of Porumamilla mandal submitted strike notices to the MRO on Monday and protested outside the MRO office on Tuesday. They demanded equal pay for equal work as implemented in other states, job security, recognition of their services, and promotion as VROs based on qualification and seniority. They warned of intensifying the agitation if a permanent solution is delayed.

Kancharla Madhusudan Naidu, son of Kancharla Srinivasulu Naidu, president of the ex-servicemen's association in Madanapalle, died in a recent road accident. Madanapalle Congress senior leader S. Reddy Saheb paid tribute to his body and later met family members to convey condolences. He said the death at a young age was distressing and urged Srinivasulu Naidu, known for service activities among people, to remain courageous. Congress leaders and workers took part in the tribute.

A protest against the "daga DSC" announced by the coalition government will be held in Madanapalle on the 29th (Friday) at 9:30 am near the Dr B.R. Ambedkar statue close to the RTC bus stand, said Annamayya district YSRCP student wing general secretary Abhi Varshit Reddy. He said the programme follows a call by former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, alleged the government was playing with the future of the unemployed, and urged state, district, constituency and mandal committee leaders, students, youth and unemployed to take part in large numbers.
Red sandalwood smugglers and labourers attacked police in the Seshachalam forests of Annamayya district, Andhra Pradesh. The incident occurred when police tried to stop them as logs were being moved from a dumping point near Kavali in Sundupalli mandal. The smugglers fled after the attack. Police arrested Govindan, a native of Tamil Nadu, and seized 26 logs worth Rs 80 lakh along with two knives and two axes. Additional SP Venkatadri said a search was on for 10 labourers who escaped.
Twenty passengers sustained severe injuries when an RTC bus overturned near Vithalam village in Valmikipuram mandal of Annamayya district on Tuesday morning. The bus, from the Madanapalle depot, was travelling to Tirupati on the Madanapalle-Tirupati national highway when a tyre burst and the driver lost control. Locals pulled passengers out. The injured were taken to Valmikipuram government hospital, and those in critical condition were shifted to Madanapalle district hospital. Police registered a case and began an investigation.
