Police solved a series of house burglary cases in Luthergiri Colony, under Pedakakani police station limits, within 24 hours. On the SP's orders and under the supervision of the North DSP, the CI, SIs and staff analysed CCTV footage and technical evidence and arrested Kurapati Santosh Kumar and Kurapati Sarita. Gold and silver jewellery stolen in three cases was recovered. The investigation found the accused first stole house keys and used them to enter homes when nobody was inside.
The CITU Drivers Union has demanded immediate resolution of problems faced by drivers, vehicle owners and farmers in the transport department's online services, submitting a petition to Tirupati district transport officials. District general secretary Kanjeri Selvaraju said technical glitches affect licence renewal, heavy vehicle IIR, name transfer, hypothecation cancellation, HSRP QR codes, conductor licence renewal and tractor-trailer FC. The union sought a special helpdesk in every RTO office.
ASHA workers in Kodumur demanded a minimum wage of Rs 26,000. Led by CITU mandal president GP Veeranna, they submitted a petition listing 11 demands to Kurnool MP Bastipati Nagaraju. They sought regularisation of ASHA workers, all categories of leave, priority for trained ANMs and GNMs when permanent posts are filled, and an increase in the number of ASHA workers in line with the growing population. The workers said the MP assured them he would take the issues to the government's notice.
The Krishna District Youth Festival 2026 was held on 06.10.2026 at A.G & S.G Siddhartha Arts & Science Degree College, Vuyyuru. Organised by STEP, KRISHI and the District Youth Welfare Department, the contests drew college students from across the district in five items: folk dance, folk song, street play, painting and poetry writing. District Employment Officer Ch. Madhu Bhushan Rao attended as chief guest. Winners received certificates and mementoes.
Contract employees of the Andhra Pradesh health department launched an indefinite strike in Anantapur district from Tuesday, protesting delays in resolving long-pending issues. JAC leaders said the government had held talks and sought time until October 3, but issued no government orders after the deadline passed. They protested with black badges, served a strike notice and held a one-day pen-down earlier. Medical services at Anantapur government hospital halted except emergencies. Contract nurses began relay hunger strikes demanding regularisation.
Horse gram seeds were distributed to farmers at the Rythu Seva Kendram (RBK) in Yandapalli village of Rayachoti mandal in Annamayya district. The Rayachoti MPDO attended as chief guest and handed over the seeds. He advised farmers to take up horse gram, which gives a higher yield with less water in the rabi season, and benefit from it. The Deputy MPDO, PDO, agriculture department assistants, SG staff and a large number of village farmers took part. Farmers who received the seeds thanked the government.

The Devi Sharannavaratri festival will be held at the Srisailam Sribhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple from the 11th to the 20th of this month, temple authorities said. Srisailam MLA Budda Rajasekhar Reddy, trust board member Ramesh Naidu, EO Srinivasa Rao, priests, Vedic scholars and officials invited Chief Minister Chandrababu to attend. The land resurvey process has been completed in Pedda Nagulavaram village of Markapuram mandal as part of the land resurvey programme taken up by the Andhra Pradesh government. On the occasion, Tahsildar K. Chiranjeevi distributed new pattadar passbooks to the farmers concerned. Officials said the resurvey would ensure land details are recorded more transparently and accurately. Village Revenue Officer Mahalakshmi and village surveyor Ravindra took part in the programme.
A Gudur 7th ADJ court judge, Venkatanagapavan, on Monday sentenced Nelluru Chitra (26) and her partner Thonda Krishnamurthy (25) to life imprisonment with a Rs 15,000 fine for the murder of her husband Jagadish, CI M. Muralikrishna said. Believing Jagadish was an obstacle to their relationship, Krishnamurthy took him to fields near Mannarupoluru cross road on the night of October 14, 2023, plied him with liquor and slit his throat with a blade. Jagadish died on a national highway divider.
A Varuna Yagam was conducted at the Sri Swayambhu Karyasiddhi Vigneswara temple in Chodavaram, praying for adequate rainfall. The ritual, led by MLA K.S.N. Raju, was attended by Vedic scholars, public representatives and devotees. Priests stood in water and recited Varuna hymns hundreds of times before the yagam began, after which the MLA offered purnahuti. Organisers said the event followed farmers' distress over delayed rains and drying crops this year.

A bakery set up near Paibata in Kuppam town of Chittoor district was gutted by fire. The blaze broke out after midnight on Monday due to an electrical circuit fault, and the material inside the bakery was completely burnt. As no one was present at the premises at the time, a major mishap was averted. The affected persons said property loss of over Rs 25 lakh had been caused.
Kolkata-based Shree Cement Limited has expressed interest in setting up an integrated cement plant at Jammalamadugu in YSR Kadapa district with an investment of Rs 7,107 crore. It proposed investing in two phases, creating 1,102 jobs, and sought 452 acres for a unit producing 6 million tonnes annually. The firm already holds limestone mines over 373 hectares near Dommaranandyala. SIPC, meeting Monday under Chief Secretary Sai Prasad, discussed proposals worth Rs 23,994 crore and 11,289 jobs, deciding to send them to SIPB.

Paddy yields in the second-season crop have fallen in Nellore district due to El Nino, farmers said. Water was allocated for 3.5 lakh acres, but farmers sowed only three lakh acres. Cultivation cost per acre rose from Rs 36,000 last year to Rs 41,000 this season. With KNM 1638 and KNM 733 fetching Rs 27,000-29,000 per putti, growers expected four puttis an acre. Farmer P. Ravindra Babu of Tarunavayi lost six to seven bags an acre. District Agriculture Officer Satyavani said intense heat reduced grain quality.
Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Lakshmi Durgesh said municipality, ZPTC, MPTC and panchayat elections will be held one after another in October and November, with the notification to be issued in October. If the process is not completed by November, the state risks losing 16th Finance Commission funds due from the Centre, he said.
