Singer Rahul Sipligunj has denied reports that he would contest as an MLA candidate from the Goshamahal constituency on behalf of a party. The Khairatabad Maha Ganapati procession proceeded with grandeur from Friday morning in Hyderabad. Former Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender performed Teenmaar steps during the event. He danced along with women constables deployed on bandobast duty to the song 'Aaya Sher' from the film 'The Paradise'. Hyderabad police have launched 'C-Mitra', a virtual helpdesk that lets cyber fraud victims complete the complaint process without visiting a police station, described as the first such system in the country. After a complaint on 1930 or the national cyber portal, virtual police officers call victims and send an AI-prepared draft. The signed copy must be sent by post, courier or drop box. A 24-member team works 8 am to 8 pm. Cases up to Rs 3 lakh will be registered as zero FIRs.
The first booster (glimpse) of 'George Krish', starring Sharwanand and directed by Sreenu Vaitla, was released on Thursday to mark the director's birthday. Sharwanand appears as 'George' in a Christian priest look and as 'Krish', a Hindu devotee. Miss India Manasa Varanasi is the female lead. Metro services in Hyderabad have been extended until 1 am on the 25th and 26th of this month for the Ganesh immersion. Officials said the last train will depart from all stations at 1 am. The extension is intended for devotees taking part in the procession and other late-night travellers. Extra ticket counters and additional digital code scanning facilities have been provided at major stations to cut queue waiting time. Water Board Managing Director Ashok Reddy expressed concern that valuable drinking water is being wasted by washing floors and vehicles, leaving taps open unnecessarily and ignoring overflowing overhead tanks. The Telangana High Court expressed displeasure over masked persons acting aggressively towards BRS working president KTR's PRO and media coordinator Mahesh alias Manikya Mahesh and personal assistant Mahender Reddy, who had attended questioning at Saifabad police station in a case over allegedly instigating workers during the Assembly session. Justice T Madhavi Devi on Wednesday directed police to preserve CCTV footage of the incident and provide protection to both. Notices were issued to respondents and the hearing adjourned by two weeks.
Statutory approvals and a traffic police NOC have been received for a skywalk linking LB Nagar metro station to the Vasavi Ananda Nilayam gated community, being built with 3,576 flats, Vasavi Group CMD Yerram Vijay Kumar said in a statement on Wednesday. Designed by IIT Hyderabad, the Rs 15 crore project must be completed in six months under an agreement with L&T Hyderabad Metro. Vasavi Avenues LLP and SR Infra and Developers will build it, with 10 main pillars alongside NH-65, plus ramp, lift and stairs.
Onion prices have risen in Hyderabad, with a kilogram now selling at Rs 70 to Rs 80, up from Rs 50 a week ago. Two months ago the rate was Rs 20 a kg, a threefold increase. Traders said onion is quoted at Rs 5,200-5,500 a quintal at the Malakpet agricultural market. They said arrivals are coming only from Maharashtra, with daily sales of 5,200-6,000 quintals, and attributed the rise to lower yields due to deficient rainfall and higher demand.
GHMC officials said Saturday that new drinking water pipeline works in Kukatpally division will begin Monday. A 14-kilometre pipeline will be laid at a cost of Rs 12 crore. Officials said the works would be completed in 90 days, and that one lane on Musapet Road would be closed from 10 am to 5 pm during this period. They said nearly 40,000 families would get improved water supply.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will begin a night-time garbage collection drive in Kukatpally and Miyapur from Monday. Trucks will operate on main roads between 10 pm and 5 am so that morning traffic is not obstructed. Officials said 40 new vehicles have been added for the drive. Residents have been asked to place waste outside their premises only after 9 pm.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has announced a night bus service connecting Uppal, LB Nagar and Dilsukhnagar with Gachibowli and HITEC City. Forty electric buses will run 10 pm to 4 am at 20-minute intervals from October 2, targeting night-shift IT workers. Fares are capped at Rs 60 for the full route, with a monthly pass at Rs 1,200. Officials expect 15,000 daily riders and plan a Secunderabad extension by December.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has said the third phase of the Godavari drinking water project will supply an additional 172 million gallons a day to the city from December. The Rs 3,375 crore phase carries water 209 km from the Yellampally reservoir. Officials said it will end summer shortages in the western suburbs of Gachibowli, Kokapet and the Financial District, which have grown faster than existing supply.
