Renigunta police have warned that strict action will follow if minors are found driving vehicles. After a minor boy drove negligently near the ZP Girls High School within the station limits and caused an accident, police registered an FIR against the boy as well as his parents. The parents were later counselled on the risks and legal consequences. Police said giving vehicles to minors is an offence and parents are also liable.
A real estate dealer, Mohammed Junaid (30), died after being stabbed in the Rein Bazar police station limits in Hyderabad's Old City. Locals alerted police about a man lying with stab wounds, and he was shifted to Yashoda Hospital in Santoshnagar, where he died during treatment. The body was sent to Osmania mortuary for postmortem. Two accused have been arrested, and both the accused and the victim are relatives, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mirchowk Shyam Sundar said. The motive is under investigation.
Atmakur CI Babulal said police caught three interstate ganja smugglers transporting the contraband illegally. Veluguri Tatarao, Kilo Gopal Rao and Kilo Sattibabu, all from Alluri Sitharama Raju district in Andhra Pradesh, bought over 500 kg of ganja from Guntawada in Odisha, sent 410 kg in another vehicle and were moving the remaining 91 kg by lorry to Hyderabad. They fled during vehicle checks at Gudeppad cross road but were chased and caught. Ganja worth about Rs 45.66 lakh was seized and the accused produced in court.
Acting on information about wildlife being transported, SOT police checked vehicles at the Shadnagar toll plaza in Telangana's Rangareddy district. Deer meat was found in two suspicious cars, police said. Officers seized 13 kg of deer meat, a rifle believed to have been used for hunting and the two cars, and detained eight people, who were handed over to Kothur police. Officials said action was taken under the Wildlife Protection Act and the accused were remanded. Investigation into the hunting site and others involved continues.
Police in Telangana's Rajanna Sircilla district arrested a man making country bombs and a gang poaching wild animals. Chandurthi CI Venkateswarlu said a buffalo owned by Dharmaram farmer Mudike Mallesham died after biting a country bomb, and a case was booked on his complaint. Seizures included 7 bombs, gun powder and Rs 2,000 from Pittala Rajalingam, 10 bombs each from Padige Lasmayya and Tummala Kanukaraju, and 40 bombs from Mogili Anjayya. Cases were filed under BNS, Explosives and Wildlife Acts.
A quarrel broke out between two boys playing on a phone in a garden at Chennuru Bit-2 Marripallimadugu, near Vinduru in Gudur mandal of Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district. According to Gudur Rural SI Tirupathaiah, a 17-year-old from Saidapuram mandal strangled an eight-year-old from Chennuru, who died. The teenager buried the body in the garden. Police began investigating after the parents complained on the 17th that the boy was missing, and the body was found. A case was registered Monday and the accused moved to a juvenile home.
Hyderabad She Teams detained 1,530 people for harassing women and girls during Ganesh Navaratri celebrations held from September 14 to 23. An IT employee in Patancheru, Sangareddy district, lost Rs 54 lakh to cyber fraudsters. According to police, the fraudsters sent a message on Telegram on the 15th of last month, offering a commission for rating branded products. After the victim invested Rs 5,000, they transferred Rs 12,000 in return. Believing the scheme to be genuine, she invested Rs 54 lakh in instalments. Patancheru police have registered a case and are investigating, and advised the public to stay cautious.
Police conducting vehicle checks on the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam main road in Gudur mandal of Krishna district signalled two youths on a motorcycle to stop, but they sped away. During the chase the bike went out of control at the Challapalli-Pedda Kallepalli junction and hit police barricades, throwing both riders onto the road. One, with a leg injury, was shifted to a government hospital; the other was detained. A search yielded about 12 kg of ganja, estimated to be worth lakhs. A case has been registered.
G. Chandrayya (42) of Bobbilipeta was murdered on January 25 near Jagguvani Cheruvu in Amadalavalasa mandal of Srikakulam district, DSP Ch Vivekananda said on Saturday. Police said his wife Eswaramma and Chintada Balamuralikrishna, with whom she had a relationship, planned the killing and hired seven youths from Uppinavalasa. After three failed attempts, Chandrayya was beaten with a beer bottle and sticks and strangled with a gunny sack. Ten accused, including the wife, were arrested and remanded.
A road accident occurred on the Hyderabad-Warangal national highway near Ghatkesar in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. A speeding lorry hit a motorcycle from behind, killing Shravani, 17, on the spot. Her parents, Uma and Suresh, sustained serious injuries. Locals who noticed the accident shifted the injured to a nearby hospital. The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle at the spot and fled after the crash. Police registered a case and launched a search for the absconding driver.
Ramagundam Police Commissioner Ambar Kishor Jha said the PD Act was invoked on Wednesday against a trader supplying spurious cotton seeds to villages under Tandur and Bhimaram police stations in Mancherial district. Voosa Subbarao of Giddaluru in Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh, appointed agents and sold the seeds in several mandals. He was involved in cases from 2021 to 2025 and is an accused in nine cases. The order issued on the 10th was confirmed by the government, and he was shifted to Cherlapally Central Jail.
Residents of Putlagudem village in Achampet mandal of Guntur district caught buffalo thieves on Wednesday and handed them to police. On Tuesday night, villagers who saw four buffaloes being moved in a mini-lorry chased the vehicle and stopped it at Challagariga. About 15 buffaloes went missing from Putlagudem in two months, and over 70 were stolen in villages around Achampet. Maramela Prasadarao, Marturi Narasimhaswamy and Chitteti Jansi filed complaints. Yadunandan, principal of the Navodaya school at Veleru village in Bapulapadu mandal of Krishna district, died in a road accident. A tipper lorry hit the car he was travelling in near Veleru village on Sunday, and he died on the spot. Motorists passing on the same road informed police, who reached the site and shifted the body to the Bandar district government hospital for post-mortem. Police registered a case, investigated and arrested the tipper driver.
Police acted against brothels operating at Dargacenter in Peddapuram town. On Monday morning, Tahsildar Jitendra, CI Abdul Nabi and SI Ravuri Murali Mohan, along with staff, locked, sealed and seized three houses belonging to Simma Sanyasi Rao, Simma Bapanamma and Dukka Nagamani. After those caught in April raids were produced before the RDO, divisional magistrate J.S. Rama Rao had ordered notices to the owners. CI Nabi said raids and seizures would continue.
Savitri, from Sangareddy district in Telangana, informed the Tirupati police WhatsApp number 8099999977 on 25-09-2026 that her husband, Chinna Rathod Santosh, had left home three days earlier. She said he made a video call stating he was distressed over heavy debts, was in Tirupati and would end his life. West police station inspector Ramakrishna traced him with technical assistance and brought him safely to the station. After counselling he was handed to his wife. District SP L. Police raided houses allegedly used to make adulterated milk in Kanumukkula and Bheemanapally villages of Bhoodan Pochampally mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, on Wednesday. According to SI Vikram Reddy, 350 litres of adulterated milk, 100 ml of hydrogen peroxide and two Dolophor skimmed milk packets were seized from Kappala Ravi of Bheemanapally. At Kumbham Ravi's house in Kanumukkula, 100 litres of milk, 200 ml of hydrogen peroxide and two packets were seized. Both men were taken into custody, a case registered and samples sent to a laboratory.
Kagita Akhil, 14, drowned while swimming with friends in a pond at Pulipalupula village in Munugode mandal of Nalgonda district on Thursday (May 14) afternoon. Police said he slipped into a deeper part of the pond. Villagers searched for about an hour before recovering the body. Tahsildar Naresh and Sub-Inspector Ravi inspected the site, and the body was sent to the Nalgonda government hospital for post-mortem. A case will be registered once the family files a complaint.
Police in Gajulamandyam have arrested P. Gunasekhar (20) and Gunduru Lokesh (21) in a case of assault and robbery of an auto driver. The two were taken into custody on September 2 near Yoganandha College Circle. Police said the accused, along with associates, stopped and attacked the driver at Santha Gate on the night of August 31 and took a Vivo Y20 phone and Rs 2,200 in cash. Rs 500 was recovered; three others are absconding and special teams are searching.
