Truck hits auto in Sangareddy district; two killed

Two people died on the spot when a truck hit a passenger auto near Mamidigi in Nyalkal mandal of Telangana's Sangareddy district. The dead are Kamala (40), an anganwadi teacher from Vaddi village, and Ambyanayak (55) of Bhojyanayak Thanda. Five others suffered serious injuries and were shifted to hospitals in Zaheerabad and Bidar. Police registered a case and began an investigation, and the bodies were sent to a government hospital for post-mortem. Police cautioned against overspeeding at blind curves.

Karimnagar murder: accused arrested after watching YouTube videos

Police have arrested Mahesh in a murder case in Ankushapur village of Jammikunta mandal, Karimnagar district. According to Huzurabad ACP Madhavi, Mahesh had an illicit relationship with a woman, and the deceased, Mogili, had earlier been jailed after a complaint by them. After his release Mogili continued to insult them, following which Mahesh watched YouTube videos, planned the killing and struck Mogili on the head with an iron rod. The rod, phone and bike were seized.

Clerk held for 405 g gold theft at Narsapuram jewellery shop

A theft at the Sri Jain Jewel Park gold shop in Narsapuram town of West Godavari district has come to light. Police said Shaik Lal Saheb, who worked there as a clerk for the past 20 years, stole 405 grams of gold in instalments to repay debts incurred on the online Fairplay betting app. Acting on the owner's complaint and orders of SP Adnan Nayeem Asmi, Narsapuram town police cracked the case in 12 hours, detained the accused and recovered ornaments worth ₹52.65 lakh.

Six Maoists arrested in Mulugu, explosives and weapon seized

Mulugu district police arrested six Maoists who were planting landmines targeting police personnel, SP Sabarish said. The arrests were made during combing operations in the Tadapala forest area of Venkatapuram mandal on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border. Those held include a deputy dalam commander, two dalam members and three militia members — two women and four men. Police seized a gun, six detonators, 12 gelatin sticks, two walkie-talkies and 20 iron spikes.

Four men posing as transgender persons held in Jubilee Hills

Jubilee Hills police on Thursday arrested four men who allegedly dressed as transgender persons to extort money, acting on the DGP's orders. On August 21, they stopped a youth arriving in a newly bought BMW at True Black Coffee shop on Road No. 45 and demanded Rs 5,000. A YouTuber's video posted on X prompted DGP CV Anand to order a probe. Police checked 500 CCTV cameras from Jubilee Hills to Boduppal over a month and held Ramesh (40), Satyanarayana (41), Ramesh (42) and Yadagiri (44) of Boduppal, inspector Satyanarayana said.

ATM pulled out, taken away in 10 minutes in Dharmavaram

An ATM attached to an IDFC First Bank branch at Parthasarathy Nagar in Dharmavaram, Sri Sathya Sai district, was stolen within 10 minutes. Masked men in caps arrived in a Bolero at 3.32 am Wednesday, opened the shutter, tied a synthetic belt to the machine, pulled it out with the vehicle and left town by 3.42 am. Police found the broken ATM at Hampapuram in Raptadu mandal. Bank official Loknath said Rs 4.70 lakh was inside. SP Satish Kumar formed special teams.

Nellore police crack toddler kidnap case, arrest three women

A three-year-old girl was taken away on a two-wheeler by two women who lured her with the promise of fruit at Brindavanam Colony in Gangapatnam, Indukurpet mandal of Nellore district, on Sunday. Using CCTV footage and a tower dump, police cracked the case within 15 hours and handed the child back to her parents. A man was killed by his wife in Gosangi Colony of Ward 20 under Kamareddy municipality, Telangana. According to police, Kodandam Lakshmi attacked her husband Shivaji with a sickle kept at home. He died on the spot after severe injuries to the neck. The couple reportedly had family problems for some time and frequent quarrels. Officials destroyed 1,450 litres of illicitly prepared FJ wash and seized 10 litres of ID liquor and 480 kg of jaggery. One person was arrested and six cases registered, officials said, adding that checks and raids against illicit liquor will continue.

Two young men die of electric shock in Chirala

Two young men died of electric shock at Bommala Centre in Thotavaripalem, Chirala mandal, on Wednesday. The deceased were identified as Katthi Issaku (22) and Tiruvidhula Shyam (21), residents of Vaikunthapuram in Chirala mandal, near the Jalamma temple. They had gone for daily wage work and were doing polishing work at a house under construction in Thotavaripalem when they were accidentally electrocuted and reportedly died on the spot. Rural police examined the site and shifted the bodies to Chirala area hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered and an investigation is under way.

Police said Pulicherla Venkateswarlu attempted to attack his wife with an arrow amid family disputes at Bairluti Gudem in Atmakur mandal of Nandyal district. Jogulamba Gadwal Collector Rizwan Basha Shaikh issued orders on Tuesday suspending three Gadwal municipality employees over alleged corruption in the collection of rent from municipal shops. The collector said Rs 11.28 lakh collected as shop rent was not deposited into the municipal account. Those suspended are Revenue Officer Rajesh Kumar, in-charge revenue inspector Rajavardhan and in-charge sharaf Rajavardhan Naidu. Man accused in over 180 chain snatchings arrested in Hyderabad

Police said a CCS special team with Saifabad police on Tuesday arrested Mohammed Faisal Shah Ali Jabri, 43, alias Abdullah, Sohail and Altaf, named in more than 180 chain-snatching cases in Hyderabad. A resident of Murad Nagar in Asifnagar, he has 14 non-bailable warrants pending across Telangana. Four held for stealing copper wires from transformers in Atmakur

Police have arrested four people accused of stealing copper winding wires from electricity transformers within the Atmakur police station limits in Nellore district. Acting on prior information, police mounted surveillance and caught the accused red-handed while they were damaging a transformer and removing wires in farm fields at Nabbinagaram in Atmakur mandal. Police found the group had committed 19 thefts in the Atmakur sub-division. Wires worth Rs 2.31 lakh were seized. Atmakur CI Gangadhar said cases were registered and the accused remanded.
