Mohammed Qutubuddin Pasha, a minority leader from Metpally, has been appointed general secretary of the Jagtial district Congress party. District Congress president Gajangi Nandayya issued the orders on Wednesday and handed over the appointment letter to Pasha. The decision was taken by the Congress leadership under the leadership of TPCC delegate member Sujith Rao. Constituency Congress cadres, senior leaders, workers and members of the public met Pasha and congratulated him on securing the district-level post.
Minister Nara Lokesh said he had reached his present position because of the sacrifices and hardships of TDP leaders and workers. He spoke at the concluding session held after the oath-taking of the party's new national and state executive bodies at the TDP central office in Mangalagiri. He called his appointment as national working president of the 44-year-old party an honour. Citing pension hikes, free gas cylinders and job recruitment, he said Google, TCS and Reliance were investing in the state.
Polling in the Munugode Assembly constituency bypoll began at 7 am on Thursday and will continue until 6 pm. The seven mandals in the constituency have 2,41,855 voters, including 1,21,720 men and 1,20,128 women. Authorities set up 298 polling booths at 119 centres, with 47 candidates in the contest. Farm labourers queued early. Voter slips with an identity card are mandatory. Officials are monitoring polling through webcasting. Police said mobile phones and selfies are barred inside polling premises.
Birthday celebrations for former Shadnagar MLA Elganamoni Anjaiah Yadav were held at the MLA camp office on Sunday. A specially prepared cake was cut by Anjaiah Yadav, and former Chegur PACS chairman Mamilla Vithal Mudiraj offered him birthday greetings. Vithal described Anjaiah Yadav as an uncrowned leader who worked for the constituency's development, saying that development is visible in every village. Bantaram Mallesh, Errolla Narsimha and Kolam Ramesh also attended.
Arrangements are complete for the Jubilee Hills Assembly byelection, with polling on November 11 from 7 am to 6 pm. The seat fell vacant after the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath. A total of 4,01,365 voters will cast ballots at 407 polling stations across 139 locations. Of 58 candidates, BRS's Maganti Sunitha, Congress's Naveen Yadav and BJP's Deepak Reddy are the main contenders. Security includes 1,761 police personnel, eight CRPF companies and 139 drones. Results on November 14.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged the Centre to confer the Bharat Ratna on former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and to set up a knowledge centre in his memory in New Delhi. He unveiled a memorial park and statue built by HMDA at Wipro Circle in Hyderabad's Financial District. He recalled Singh's liberalisation reforms and laws on education, information, employment guarantee and food security. Singh's signature on the Telangana formation Bill has been preserved at the park.
The 'Seva Sankalp Bike Yatra', being conducted from Tirupati to Varanasi, reached Srikalahasti on Wednesday. MLA Bojjala Venkata Sudhir Reddy welcomed the team and joined the bike rally. The riders later visited the Srikalahasteeswara Swamy temple and offered prayers, after which the MLA handed over theertha prasadam. He said the yatra, held by Yuvagalam and TNSF on Nara Lokesh's directions, covers about 2,000 km and marks 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public life.
The BJP SC Morcha laid siege to the Hyderabad Collectorate on Tuesday, demanding that SC Corporation funds not be diverted and be used for SC welfare. Led by Morcha state president Kanthi Kiran, leaders and workers marched to the Collectorate at Lakdikapul. Police blocked them from entering; some tried to climb the gate, leading to pushing and arguments. Police arrested the protesters and removed them. Kiran alleged the government had diverted Rs 10,000 crore allocated to the Corporation over three years.
Telangana Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said construction under four phases of Indiramma houses would begin by the coming elections and be completed within the present government's term, with keys handed to beneficiaries. He laid the foundation stone for Indiramma Towers at Red Hills in Hyderabad's Nampally constituency on Tuesday. Registration will be done free by the government, and house documents will allow bank loans of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. Sites have been identified in 20 constituencies of the city's core region.
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, after visiting the Bhimeshwara Swamy temple at Vemulawada in Rajanna Sircilla district on Tuesday morning, asked whether BJP leaders had ever said 'Om Namah Shivaya'. He said the Chief Minister had described Shiva as the god of the poor, that his party opposed no deity, and that Shiva was the deity of southerners. Government whips Adi Srinivas, CH Vijayaramana Rao and Vemula Veresham accompanied him. Madhu Yashki Goud said BJP leaders practise politics in god's name.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will tour the erstwhile Karimnagar district on Wednesday, with the schedule released on Tuesday evening by his personal secretary Narmala Srinivas. He reaches Karimnagar at 3 pm and receives a police guard of honour between 3.10 and 3.40 pm. He will unveil a Telangana Talli statue, inaugurate the new collectorate building and lay foundation stones for development works. At 4.45 pm he reaches Sircilla, walks from Ambedkar Circle at 5 pm and addresses a public meeting.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will visit Sircilla on Wednesday. At 3 pm he will inaugurate the collectorate building complex in Karimnagar and review work with district officials. At 4 pm he will travel by helicopter to Sircilla and join a rally from Ambedkar Chowrasta to the meeting venue. He will then lay foundation stones for development works worth Rs 345.78 crore and address the gathering. Congress has arranged to mobilise about one lakh people from seven constituencies. The meeting continues till 7.45 pm.
All-party leaders urged the Union government to retain the originally proposed alignment of the Hyderabad-Amaravati-Chennai high-speed bullet train via Choutuppal, Suryapet and Kodad. The decision was announced at a preparatory meeting held on Monday at Kodad Public Club function hall, organised by former MLA Bollam Mallaiah Yadav. He said hundreds had died in accidents caused by traffic congestion on National Highway 65, and rail access would aid business, medical and industrial growth. CPM, CPI, Congress, BJP and MRPS leaders said they were ready for phased agitations.
An all-party meeting at Basheerbagh Press Club demanded a permanent solution to the land dispute continuing for 23 years in the name of a hardware park at Nadergul, Adibatla and M.M. Kunta. Speakers said land acquisition began in 2004 but the land is not fully in use, while nearly 20,000 plot owners and farmers face difficulties. In the Atmakur constituency, government staff paid tributes at all government offices, while leaders and workers put up flexi banners at junctions. Traders voluntarily shut shops. The Andhra Pradesh government declared two days of mourning. He was one of two ministers from the district, where YSRCP won all 10 assembly seats.
Assembly Secretary Tirupati issued a gazette notification dated September 26, in line with the High Court verdict, declaring the Khairatabad Assembly seat vacant. It states the seat fell vacant from April 23, 2024, with disqualification imposed under the Tenth Schedule para 2(1)(a) and Article 191(2). The High Court cancelled the membership of Danam Nagender, who won on a BRS ticket and later contested the Lok Sabha polls for Congress; the Supreme Court rejected his petition. Officials say the bypoll will follow the SIR exercise.
Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy visited the residence of TDP senior leader Bellam Venkataramana Reddy at Eethoti Vandlapalli in Galiveedu mandal after learning that he was unwell. The minister enquired about his health condition, spoke to family members and offered reassurance, wishing him a speedy and complete recovery. The Sircilla town Congress committee celebrated the birthday of Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Aadi Srinivas. Held under town Congress president Soora Devaraju, the event saw district Congress president Sangeetam Srinivas and other leaders cut a cake. Speakers said Srinivas entered politics as a student, stayed among the people despite losing four assembly contests, and brought hundreds of crores of rupees for the development of the Vemulawada Rajarajeswara Swamy temple.
