Two arrested, 18 under scanner in Navy espionage case
The Counter Intelligence Cell of the Andhra Pradesh Intelligence Department has uncovered an espionage module in which 18 people, including 13 Navy personnel, are suspected of passing sensitive information on the Visakhapatnam Naval Base and other defence establishments to Pakistani intelligence operatives, officials said in a release on Tuesday. Contract driver Annam Sai Vara Prasad and Navy employee Pradeep Mukherjee, 31, were arrested and remanded in judicial custody till October 14. A case was registered in Vijayawada under the BNS, UAPA and Official Secrets Act.
