Rajnath launches first indigenous fleet support ship 'Surya' in Visakhapatnam
Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday launched 'Surya', India's first indigenously built fleet support ship (FSS-1), at Hindustan Shipyard Limited in Visakhapatnam. He also laid the keel for the fifth ship in the series and inaugurated the upgraded Slipway-4 and a 300-tonne Goliath crane. The ships will supply fuel, water, ammunition and provisions at sea. He later went to Koraput, Odisha, to witness HAL's delivery of its 2,000th aero-engine and announced a second production line for Shakti engines.
