Indonesia seeks long-term strategic partnership with Bangladesh

Bangladesh's State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir and Indonesia's Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta met at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka on October 6, 2026. Both sides expressed interest in priority joint projects over the next five to ten years to build a long-term strategic partnership. Kabir placed five proposals, including restoring visa-on-arrival, and exports of pharmaceuticals, jute bags and potatoes, plus disaster management cooperation. Matta suggested exploring direct Dhaka-Jakarta air links.
