New rail bridge over Ganga at Mokama opens to traffic
A new double-line rail bridge over the Ganga at Mokama in Bihar began operations, with the Mahananda Express crossing first at about 90 kmph. The Rs 2,400 crore project includes a bridge of about 1.86 km, with the overall stretch around 14 km. Guru Prakash, Commissioner of Railway Safety for the Eastern Circle, inspected the section on 3 and 4 October before granting clearance. The bridge is designed for speeds up to 140 kmph.
