Uncertainty over Karnataka water release worries Jurala farmers
Farmers in the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district are distressed over uncertainty on the release of Krishna water from Karnataka's Narayanpur project to Jurala. Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and Vakiti Srihari led a team to Karnataka on September 22, after which the state reportedly agreed in principle. Farmer groups question official records showing 27,600 cusecs released between September 24 and October 1. Jurala's live storage is around 4.5 TMCft, while farmers say 5-6 TMCft is needed. Officials said supply resumes October 7 under Warabandi.
