India tops consumer confidence index but ranks 16th on jobs
India scored 66.9 on Ipsos's September 2026 Global Consumer Confidence Index, the highest among 30 markets, against a global average of 48.4. Its Jobs Index, however, was 59.3, placing it 16th. In Ipsos's What Worries the World survey, 47% of Indian respondents named unemployment and 36% education among top concerns, while 70% said the country was heading in the right direction. MoSPI estimated April-June GDP growth at 7.8%. Ipsos said its India sample is urban-skewed.
