Bird flu confirmed in Anantapur village, 2,500 chickens dead
Bird flu has been confirmed at a poultry farm in Siddarampuram village of Bukkarayasamudram mandal in Anantapur district, where around 2,500 country chickens have died. Officials suspect birds recently brought from Adilabad in Telangana introduced the infection. The NIHSAD laboratory in Bhopal confirmed avian influenza in a report received on Sunday. Surveillance has begun within a 10-km radius of the farm. Animal Husbandry joint director P Premchand said chicken and egg movement would be restricted for three months.
