District Collector Koya Sriharsha said power consumers should make use of the Seva Setu Abhiyan camps being held jointly by the central and state governments. He took part in a PM Suryaghar programme on Thursday at the electricity office near Jenda Chowrasta. He said consumers should do spot registration at the three-day camp to install rooftop solar panels, and directed officials to create awareness on solar benefits. A dharna will be held in Suryapet on Friday on the call of the TUWJ-IJU state committee, seeking solutions to problems faced by journalists. State executive member Chalasani Srinivas Rao told a meeting on Thursday that a representation would be submitted at the Mahatma Gandhi statue on MG Road on Gandhi Jayanti, followed by a dharna at the new bus stand and a memorandum to the district collector. He alleged house sites, health cards and bus pass concessions were denied, with 50% charges now collected instead of one-third, and demanded a special law against attacks.
Soil tests were carried out on Thursday at Old Ashok Bazaar in Lakshminagar, Godavarikhani's main trade centre, under the Ramagundam Municipal Corporation. BJP Mahila Morcha organised an Anganwadi Utsavam at Telaga Kalyana Mandapam in Narasapuram, West Godavari district. Anganwadi workers and ASHA didis were felicitated on the occasion. The programme included discussions on the health and nutrition of children, pregnant women and nursing mothers, and on preventing malnutrition. Speakers said nutrition is important for the healthy growth of children. A resident of Sullurpeta in Tirupati district urgently needed two B+ SDP blood donors for surgery. After the patient's family approached them, Chiranjeevi Seva Sangham president Mabhasha and member Chaitanya travelled to Chennai and donated SDP blood to the patient at Gleneagles Hospital. Mabhasha said the group takes part in service activities inspired by Megastar Chiranjeevi, and appealed to people to donate blood voluntarily, calling it a social responsibility.
About 35,147 students from nearly 170 government and private schools joined the 'Swachh Pathasala' programme held by the Mangalagiri–Tadepalli Municipal Corporation under the Union government's 'Swachhata Hi Seva–2026'. Officials said students brought dry waste from their homes to collection points at schools, yielding around 50,000 kg. An awareness programme marking Civil Rights Day was held on Wednesday in Settipalli village of Amangal mandal, Rangareddy district. The tahsildar, deputy tahsildar, village sarpanch, ward members, police officers, village elders, women and residents took part. Officials explained civil rights, rights granted by the Constitution, equality and the eradication of untouchability. They also outlined key provisions of the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, victims' rights and available legal remedies, urging citizens to respect others' rights.
A house was gutted after a short circuit triggered a fire at Mulugupalli village in Mahamuttaram mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Thursday. Mandapu Lachimallu and his sons Mohan and Prabhakar lived in three rooms of the same house and had locked up and gone for farm work when the fire broke out. Gas cylinders in the rooms exploded, destroying the house. Family members said cash and gold and silver ornaments were burnt. Nobody was inside. Firefighters, alerted by locals, doused the blaze.
The Centre has allotted 2,200 electric buses to Hyderabad under the PM e-Drive scheme. The RTC has reported to the government that the first batch of 137 buses will be available in the CURE area in November, with the final batch of 385 buses arriving in January 2028. Tender-1 covered 2,000 buses and tender-2 covered 200. Per-kilometre hire ranges from Rs 54.91 to Rs 66.60. EVEY Trans received 60 AC and 1,025 non-AC low-floor buses.
Police in Warangal have warned that walking on main roads during morning hours, which begin from 4:30 am for many residents, is dangerous. They said drivers who operate vehicles through the night on national and state highways are drowsy in the morning and may not see pedestrians clearly. On September 26, a man walking at Karimabad, Janmabhoomi Junction, under Mills Colony police station limits died on the spot after a two-wheeler hit him; the rider was injured. Six months ago, a lorry hit a man on KU Road, breaking both his legs. Police advise walking in sports grounds, parks, indoor stadiums and on dedicated tracks.
A fire broke out at midnight below the Cheruvugattu Sri Parvathi Jadala Ramalingeswara Swamy temple hill in Narketpally mandal of Nalgonda district. Beginning in a toy shop, the flames destroyed 17 shops and 15 push-carts. Two gas cylinders exploded, spreading the fire to the gram panchayat office, where key records were burnt, officials said. Three fire engines brought it under control. The sarpanch put losses at about Rs 2.5 crore. No casualties were reported; a short circuit is suspected.
A boy was found walking alone on the Karimnagar-Hyderabad Rajiv Rahadari near Renikunta toll plaza in Thimmapur mandal on Wednesday evening. Locals and toll staff noticed him and asked for his name and village, but he did not respond even when asked again later. They then informed LMD police, who took charge of the boy. SI Anwar said the boy would be handed over to district child welfare officials, and asked anyone with information to call 8712670770.
A rare pangolin was found in a pit dug for a bathroom during house construction on farmer Vempa Subbaraju's field at Gollalapalem village in V. Madugula mandal of Anakapalli district. The family informed forest officials. Venkatesh, skilled at handling wild animals, rescued it safely and released it in nearby forests in the presence of officials. The pangolin is a nocturnal mammal feeding on ants and termites, and faces threats from poaching and illegal trade.
MLA Nandyala Varadarajula Reddy distributed house sanction letters to 83 beneficiaries at a programme held on Wednesday in Sambayyagari Street, Proddatur. He said 401 houses have been sanctioned in the town so far across three phases. Each house receives Rs 2.50 lakh in combined assistance from the central and state governments, he said. Eligible people owning house plots were asked to apply under phase two of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban. Housing PD Rajaratnam, EE Ramana Reddy and Municipal Commissioner Vishwanath attended.

Led by SP Amit Bardar, the event outlined zero-tolerance goals on crimes against women, road accidents and drugs. Officials said the district has recorded 32 cases of crimes against women, 4 POCSO cases, 103 road accidents including 69 fatal, and 81 NDPS cases with 10,625 kg of ganja seized.
Chevella MLA Kale Yadaiah on Monday launched underground drainage works being taken up at a cost of Rs 5 lakh in Urella village of Chevella mandal, Rangareddy district, along with MPP Vijayalakshmi and ZPTC Malathi. He said villages were being given priority under CM KCR after Telangana's formation and developed on par with towns. ORS and zinc were distributed to children under five at anganwadi centres in Urella and Thangadipalli. Diarrhoea fortnight and malaria month programmes began at Chilkur health sub-centre in Moinabad mandal.
