Four others are in critical condition and 20 suffered serious injuries. The bus was carrying 51 people from Kyasaram in Patancheru mandal, Sangareddy district, to a funeral at Chintakunta in Dharur mandal. The driver fled. Authorities announced Rs 5 lakh for each deceased family and Rs 1 lakh for the injured. CM Revanth Reddy and KTR expressed shock.
MLA Janampally Anirudh Reddy on Wednesday inaugurated newly constructed Indiramma houses at Singammaguda Thanda in Rajapur mandal of Jadcherla constituency, Mahabubnagar district. He said providing own houses to the poor is the government's objective. Extending wishes to the beneficiaries, he said development works in the constituency would continue at a fast pace. Local leaders took part in the programme.
A fire broke out on Wednesday in the premises of the Kethepally police station in Nalgonda district. Flames suddenly erupted among vehicles seized in various cases and kept at the station, and within moments spread to other vehicles parked alongside, causing alarm in the area. Fire personnel reached the spot with a fire engine after being informed and were working to bring the blaze under control. The cause of the fire and the extent of property loss are yet to be ascertained.
Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao launched the Tholimudda programme at the MPDO office in Kollapur, Nagarkurnool district. He said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy introduced the programme to provide nutritious food to children aged three to six years, and directed that it be implemented properly at anganwadi centres. He later laid the foundation stone for a new ST boys' hostel building to be constructed in Kollapur at an estimated cost of Rs 2.50 crore under the Tribal Welfare Department, ordering officials to complete the work on schedule with quality standards.
A private bus met with an accident on Ananthagiri Ghat Road in Telangana's Vikarabad district. Passengers from Kesaram village in Patancheru mandal of Sangareddy district were travelling to Chintakunta village in Darur mandal for a funeral when the mishap occurred. Police reached the spot and began relief work. SP Sneha Mehra inspected the site and directed officials on shifting the injured and managing traffic. She later visited the government hospital with the District Collector. Police are investigating the cause.
A private travels bus caught fire on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada main road on the outskirts of Pedda Kaparthy village in Chityala mandal of Telangana's Nalgonda district. The driver noticed the flames, pulled the bus to the side of the road and alerted those on board. All 36 passengers got out safely, but the entire luggage in the bus was destroyed. The fire is reportedly believed to have been caused by a short circuit.
Nandikotkur MLA Githa Jayasurya took part in a ward visit programme at C.S.I. Palem in Nandikotkur municipality. He met residents of the ward and enquired about their problems. He examined issues relating to drinking water, roads, drainage, sanitation and basic infrastructure. He directed that the problems raised by people be brought to the notice of concerned officials and steps taken to resolve them. He said the government is working to provide necessary infrastructure and that efforts for the town's development will continue. Municipal Commissioner Venkatarami Reddy, ward and town leaders and officials attended.
Sarva darshan of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala is taking about 12 hours. According to information available till 4 pm on Thursday, all 31 compartments in Vaikuntham Queue Complex-2 and nine sheds at Narayanagiri were full with devotees, with the queue line extending via Krishnateja guest house up to Silathoranam circle. Time-slot devotees were waiting in six compartments of Vaikuntham Queue Complex-1. On Wednesday, 72,362 devotees had darshan and 29,166 offered their hair. Tuesday's hundi income was Rs 4.05 crore.
A farewell programme was held yesterday at the Nirmal district police camp office for Additional Superintendent of Police Avinash Kumar, who has been transferred to Kothagudem. The event was organised under the auspices of District SP Dr G. Janaki Sharmila. District police officers and staff took part in the programme. A common mobility card allowing travel on both RTC buses and Metro trains with a single pass became available in Hyderabad on Friday. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka will launch the services at Praja Bhavan, Begumpet, at 12 noon. The daily pass costs Rs 400 and the monthly pass Rs 8,500. A refundable Rs 100 deposit applies to the card. It covers city buses within ORR limits but not Pushpak buses. The 'Mee Ticket' app offers a Rs 600 digital weekly bus pass and QR tickets.

Free doctor consultations are available 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Saturday. Membership costs Rs 99 a week or Rs 349 a month.
Villagers on Friday stopped CC road works being carried out under the Bharatmala national highway bridge at Rajoli in Jogulamba Gadwal district. Led by sarpanch Gangireddy and upa-sarpanch Sandhya, leaders and farmers asked site engineer Bharat to halt the work. They said grain-loaded vehicles already cannot pass as the bridge was built at a low height, and another one-and-a-half feet of CC and BT would leave clearance at 13 feet, keeping harvesters and ration rice lorries out. Officials removed the CC laid.
Shravan Tadanla of Hanamkonda and Vanam Sharath Babu of Shambhunipet in Warangal district received awards in the National Photography Competition-2026. Shravan's photograph was chosen 'Best Image of the Year', while Sharath Babu's entry won the 'Excellence Award of the Year 2026'. Held on the theme 'My India: 80 Years of Democracy and Freedom', the contest drew 352 photographs from 182 photographers across 16 states, with 60 awards selected. Vice-Chancellor Prof K. Gangadhara Rao presented the awards on October 2 at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur.
Leaders of the Bharat Vikalangula Hakkula Parirakshana Samithi held a protest in Vikarabad on Gandhi Jayanti, alleging the government has not implemented promises made to persons with disabilities during the assembly elections. State president Gidde Rajesh, general secretary Kavali Narsimhulu and district president Pothuraju Sudhir had half their beard and moustache shaved, then began an indefinite hunger strike. Demands include raising pension to Rs 6,000, free RTC travel, filling backlog posts and a separate welfare department.
Anganwadi workers submitted a memorandum at the Gandhi statue in Ramachandrapuram, seeking higher wages and implementation of welfare schemes. District leader Medisetti Durgamma said wages of workers, helpers and mini workers have not risen since 2019, while various apps had increased their workload. She said a minutes copy was given in July 2024 and the ICDS minister gave an assurance on March 10, but the government had not acted. They demanded a minimum wage of Rs 26,000, ESI, PF and pending TA bills.
The Telangana government launched a common pass allowing travel on both Hyderabad Metro and TGSRTC services with a single card at an event in Praja Bhavan. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar unveiled it. The daily pass costs Rs 400 (Metro Rs 300, RTC Rs 100) and the monthly pass Rs 8,500 (Metro Rs 7,000, RTC Rs 1,500). A Rs 100 security deposit applies and is refunded when the card is returned. It covers RTC city buses within the Outer Ring Road and all Metro trains.
As part of National Wildlife Week, the Forest Department organised an awareness rally at the Komaram Bheem Asifabad district headquarters. Forest officials, staff, students and nature lovers walked through the town's main streets raising slogans. Officials said the aim was to create public awareness on wildlife protection, the importance of forests and conservation of biodiversity. FRO Sardar Govind said hunting or harming wildlife is a punishable offence, and urged people to report suspicious activity to forest officials.
Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary was marked at Podili in Markapuram district by the Manavata voluntary service organisation. Committee members garlanded the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Potti Sriramulu near Sri Vasavi Ammavari Shala at the old panchayat office and paid tributes. Bread and fruit were later distributed to patients at the local government hospital. District president Muvvala Parthasarathi said people enjoy the fruits of freedom due to Gandhi's sacrifices. Chairman Katuri Narayana Babu urged the present generation to remember such leaders' service.
A bridge built at a cost of Rs 6.54 crore over the causeway at Pottepalem in Nellore district was inaugurated on Friday by Collector Himanshu Shukla, MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and TDP leader Giridhar Reddy. The Collector said a 50-year-old problem had been resolved and the works were completed in 11 months. The MLA said development works worth Rs 966 crore are under way in the Rural constituency. His daughter Sai Vaishnavi said she would contest for mayor or ZP chairman if the party directs.
Residents of Narsingpur village in Dichpally mandal of Telangana's Nizamabad district worship Mahatma Gandhi as a deity and offer prayers to him daily. Villagers said any auspicious occasion in the village, including weddings, traditional gatherings and festivals, begins with garlanding the Gandhi statue and breaking a coconut before him. While Gandhi Jayanti is marked across the country, the villagers said they follow this age-old custom without fail every day.
