Bank stocks lift Sensex, Nifty as crude prices ease
Indian equities rose on Tuesday as oil prices declined amid reports of increased supplies and positive macroeconomic cues. The Sensex gained 685.34 points, or 0.95%, to close at 73,067.81, while the Nifty 50 advanced 220.35 points, or 0.9%, to 22,776.10. Banking stocks led the advance, with Kotak Mahindra Bank up 3.8% and Axis Bank 1.4%. Brent crude fell 2.8% to $97.55 a barrel. Markets await Wednesday's RBI policy announcement, said Sunny Agrawal of SBI Securities.
