Sensex gains 685 points; Nifty closes above 22,700
Indian equity markets extended their recovery for a second session as selling pressure eased. The Sensex closed at 73,067.81, up 685.34 points or 0.95 per cent, while the Nifty ended at 22,776.10, up 220.35 points or 0.98 per cent. Nifty Chemicals led sectoral gains, rising 1.98 per cent. Trent, Kotak Bank, Hindustan Unilever and Reliance advanced, while Tech Mahindra, Titan, ITC, Infosys and TCS declined. Analyst Vipin Dixena called it a relief recovery, not a trend reversal.
