Fine rice price touches Rs 85 a kg in Telangana
Fine rice prices in Telangana have risen steadily over four months to Rs 65-85 a kg, against Rs 50-55 four months ago, an increase of about 25%. Broken rice has moved from around Rs 20 to Rs 30 a kg. Traders cite weather changes, lower yields and paddy area likely falling from about 92 lakh acres to 78 lakh acres. Demand from other states and millers' advance-cash terms have added pressure.
