Mining poses no threat to Ramappa Temple, says Singareni
Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) management said on Monday that reports claiming its mining activities threaten the Ramappa Temple were based on misconceptions and were completely untrue. On the proposed Venkatapur Opencast Project in Mulugu district, it said work would proceed only after a comprehensive scientific study, with further action based strictly on reports from the Archaeological Survey of India and other reputed institutions. The Telangana government undertaking said it would not damage the UNESCO World Heritage Site and that environmentally sustainable, legally compliant mining remained a priority.
