MacKenzie Scott's $20m gift yields four Denver childcare centres
A $20 million donation from MacKenzie Scott to Mile High United Way, announced on December 15, 2020, has helped create four early childhood education centres in the Denver area over five years, adding 264 affordable childcare places. The charity called it the largest single gift in its 138-year history. Five million dollars went to immediate COVID-19 relief. A 22-unit Uptown apartment building was bought and renovated in 2025.
