Water shortage hits Mahbubabad crops, cultivation area shrinks
A deficient monsoon has cut cultivation in Mahbubabad district from 15 lakh acres to 13 lakh acres, with about 268 villages facing water shortages, official sources said. The crisis is acute in upland areas of Mahbubabad and Dornakal. Farmers said they receive around seven hours of three-phase power against the scheduled 12 hours. District Agricultural Officer S Vijay Chandra said rainfall was about 20% below normal and alternative crops had been advised.
