Australian Coalition to unveil deep cuts to overseas migration
Australia's opposition Coalition is expected to announce deep cuts to immigration on Tuesday, in an effort to blunt rising support for One Nation. Opposition leader Angus Taylor is to unveil the policy, with Nine newspapers reporting net migration would initially fall to about 100,000 in the first year after the election, then rise to between One Nation's 130,000 target and Labor's 225,000. Foreign students and visa overstayers face a crackdown, while working holidaymaker places and skills would be prioritised.
