Vice-President launches India's first indigenous non-GMO popcorn maize hybrid
Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Monday launched India's first indigenous, non-GMO, high-expansion popcorn maize hybrid seed at Musunuru in Eluru district. He said the hybrid would reduce dependence on imported hybrid technology and conserve foreign exchange, and that over 17,500 farmers in eight States, cultivating nearly 40,000 acres, are associated with Gourmet Popcornica. Governor S. Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu attended the programme.
