CID questions forest officials over killing of three 'poachers'
A CID investigation into the killing of three alleged poachers by forest officials in Karnataka's Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary in the early hours of August 15 has raised several questions. The CID says autopsy reports indicate shots were fired at close range, crime scene videography does not show the weapon allegedly found with the victims, the bodies were removed and the scene was not preserved. It has moved the High Court to cancel anticipatory bail granted to three officials. The forest department said its team fired in retaliation.
