Indian-American voters seen as key factor in 2026 US midterms

With control of the US Senate and House hanging in a narrow balance ahead of the November 3 midterm elections, both parties are courting Indian-American voters. The community numbers over 5.2 million, including 2.1 million eligible adult citizens, and recorded 71% turnout in 2020 and 70% in 2024. A nationwide Senate preference survey showed 66% backing Democrats and 22% Republicans, while Democratic identification fell from 55% in 2020 to 46% in early 2026.
