Gujarat Rent Bill won't be signed by Governor, AG tells High Court
Gujarat Advocate General Kamal Trivedi told the High Court on Monday (October 5) that at a meeting between the Bar Council of Gujarat and the Deputy Chief Minister, an assurance was given that the Gujarat Rent Bill 2026 will not be signed by the Governor and the original law will be restored. He made the submission before a bench of Justice Maulik J Shelat. The Gujarat High Court Advocates' Association resolved to abstain from work on October 5 and 6, claiming the Bill shifts dispute resolution powers from judicial to administrative authorities.
